“Friendly staff,amazing breakfast, nice room,would stay again”

“We were given a very spacious room. We had two showers in separate bathrooms but one toilet and unfortunately the flush on the toilet was extremely poor and intermittent with a wobbly handle. Room and bed frame were slightly dusty but probably to be expected as it’s a very old building. Staff were brilliant, very friendly and helpful. You have to pay for your on site parking in advance when you arrive, even though you are not guaranteed a space, which would be fine if you’d not already paid to park there and then have to pay again for parking elsewhere. ”

“Stayed two nights at The Bull. Great little authentic pub, staff lovely. Room No1 was a good size , bed linen really soft . No hairdryer but luckily I’d brought my own.( I’m sure if asked one would have been provided) The corners and edges of the room need to been cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. Bathroom really needs attention. Ceiling needs cleaning and painting. The shower attachment needs replacing as does the shower curtain with a proper door. The tiles in the bathroom need cleaning with domestic to removed the black grout . Aside from all above, we enjoyed our break, beer and wine served was good and a reasonable price. ”

“The room was fine and the bed was very comfortable. It was also quiet overnight (apart from some other residents making a bit of noise for a short while at 4 a.m. The staff member I spoke to when I booked in friendly and helpful. The issue for me was the shower, as I slipped when I tried to get out (it had a step up into it, which made it precarious getting out.) As result, my upper left arm went into the metal door frame. I incurred a large bruise to my arm as a result, which is taking a while to heal. up. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to report it as I needed to go out time to report it as I had to go out. The bathroom itself was also narrow and the sink tap was too excessive for the sink itself (plus the towel rail is narrow.) I wouldn't necessarily advise against staying in that room, however I would advise exercising caution using the shower. ”

“We have family in Shrewsbury and the Lion and Pheasant is our hotel of choice when we visit. The staff are all helpful, friendly and warm. Rooms are spotless with good quality furniture, linen, super comfy beds and pillows. Good showers and well designed for relaxation. This time I stayed with my mother, we had cosy double rooms for single use which were perfect. Others have said they found those at the front of the building noisy but as we come from London we didn't find that. We ate in the restaurant twice. On one evening they were extremely busy and there was also a wedding going on and the meal was not as good as previous dining experiences in the hotel. I would imagine the kitchen was over-stretched. The scallop starter and rhubarb souffle desert were excellent but the mains all suffered from being kept warm which impacted on quality. Our other meal was on Sunday evening when it was quieter and was much better. Breakfast on both days was great with local, high quality products and charming service. The lion and pheasant will continue to be our Hotel of choice when we visit. One word of caution the entrance to the car park tests your nerve it is very, very narrow! “Lovely place to stay . Stairs were challenging with luggage . Quite noisy from people outside but we did stay in a Saturday night !! Breakfast was lovely, Staff were very friendly & helpful.”

“The hotel is central for everything you need..I was dismayed to find my bathroom although thinking it was private was in the corridor through the fire door.. really not good for me..I had my own bathroom but dreaded getting up in the night.. the neighbouring room with children where still setting down at midnight.. The staff were excellent, very helpful.. breakfast was good with several choices.. I would recommend that the surfaces of tables in eating area are looked at and varnish removed as they are so very sticky... Feel like they are dirty but not, as its the multiple layers of poor quality varnish.. ”
