Went via Agoda and got a very good deal for myself and my Wife for an overnight stop. The pub is steeped in history. Dickens, Darwin and more modern 'celebrities' have stayed here in the past. The room we stayed at was very basic, but clean. Shower over the bath had a strong flow and was nice and hot when needed. Twin beds were comfortable, and being an extremely hot day, it was great to have a fan included in the room. A hair dryer was also included. TV was rather tiny, but worked. This Hotel is extremely old and the decor needs updating. There is no breakfast/food facility but across the road there are a few cafes if breakfast is a requirement. Car parking was £5 from arrival to leaving (by 11am). I would stay here again, but be aware the decor needs updating etc. Staff were fine, no issues. Amazing location for exploring Shrewsbury. Our room was quiet (around the back, away from the main road). For the price and location, this hotel must be a hot contender.

We were given a very spacious room. We had two showers in separate bathrooms but one toilet and unfortunately the flush on the toilet was extremely poor and intermittent with a wobbly handle. Room and bed frame were slightly dusty but probably to be expected as it’s a very old building. Staff were brilliant, very friendly and helpful. You have to pay for your on site parking in advance when you arrive, even though you are not guaranteed a space, which would be fine if you’d not already paid to park there and then have to pay again for parking elsewhere.

Handy place to stay in Shrewsbury in the heart of town.Staff are lovely,the place is old with alot of history. Breakfast was plentiful and plenty of variety. Very clean and presentable. Parking is onsight for a small charge to guests.I would stay here again when in Shrewsbury.

I stayed as a solo traveller in a single room. The room was dated but comfortable. My tv was tiny, if all tvs are like that they definitely need updating. The room.was clean and had just what I needed for my one night stay. I had a really good night's sleep. It's a vey old building & that shows in areas, but that was what I liked about it, made a change from the usual modern accommodation i usually stay in. I really enjoyed my stay and the location was amazing. I may try another room next time, as some of them look beautiful in the pictures.

Charming old hotel with very helpful & friendly staff. Basic room with no view but adequate for a one night stay. Squeaky floorboards everywhere!
