“What a shame, we have stayed here twice before and really enjoyed it and while this time I cannot fault the staff or the value the bed and the pillows for both myself and my partner were not good. The bed was so hard and I even had to sleep with the cushion from the chair as it was far better than the pillows. When I checked out I asked if all the beds in all the rooms were the same and I was told yes, so I will defo not be going back as we hardly sleep. Such a shame :-(”

“We stayed in one of the basement rooms, which unfortunately was below the Bistro. With staff clearing up until late, and cleaners starting early the next morning, it was quite noisy in the room. We were generously discounted for this but light sleepers might be best to avoid the basement rooms. The dinner was outstanding and the ambience lovely, and this made our stay very memorable. ”

“Stayed here to celebrate an anniversary, we booked a room with a 4 poster in the hope that it would be better than a standard room. ……… I don’t believe it was ! The room had a small single glazed window so was quite dark. It was at the the back of the hotel and the view wasn’t pleasant. We were also woken at 6am bu the sound of breaking glass , the large bottle bins were being emptied !! ”

“The hotel is a grade 2 listed building so has a lot of the original features. However the decor is modern and to a very high standard. Be aware that there are lots of stairs so not ideal for everyone but if that’s not an issue I would highly recommend. Staff are lovely, food is excellent and the location is central. Some rooms over look the park which is a lovely view. The hotel also has a lovely outside area where you can dine at the restaurant, it also has heater's and umbrellas for those chilly nights.”
