“Lovely base for exploring the Cotswolds, very picturesque, room was lovely and spotlessly clean. Very friendly housekeeping staff with a great knowledge of the local area. Food and drink quite pricey but looked nice. ”

“The bed linen and pillow cases were covered in black dog hairs where an irresponsible previous guest had allowed their dog on the bed. The cleaner should never have fitted this (hopefully washed!) bed linen to the bed - the hairs were the first thing we noticed when we came in the room so the cleaner couldn't have missed them. When I politely asked if they could just be changed please, I was told it would be sorted (which it was), but then he proceeded to say to another member of staff "Room 20 have complained about dog hairs on the bed" within earshot of us, which greatly upset my wife as she was then convinced the staff were all talking about us behind our backs. I did not complain, I simply made a very reasonable request to have bed linen without dog hairs on it! So a bit more professionalism wouldn't go amiss, I think. Still, once the bed linen had been replaced, everything was fine, and we slept very well, with a very comfortable bed. The home-made faggots were far too heavy though and I couldn't even manage a cooked breakfast the next morning! That aside, the food was good, as was the beer and wine, and the main building is beautiful. The suite we stayed in was nicely decorated and well-equipped, but the bathroom did have a few stray hairs in and there were some cobwebs with hairs in too, so the cleaning standard really needs to be improved.”

“Just a one night stay but really pleasant. A absolutely amazing location between Minchinhampton and Rodborough Commons - stunning views. Good, plentiful parking, helpful staff, there when you want them, delicious food with a vast price range. Lots of different areas to sit, both inside and out - featuring a lovely garden area. A fantastic base for walking and enjoying the Cotswolds. A comfortable room with enough facilities to make for an enjoyable stay. ”

“Room is nice with separate sitting area and skylight. Centrally located and close to free parking and several restaurants. Breakfast includes cereal, milk, fruits, yogurt, muffins and orange juice. Every thing tastes fresh and local. Communication was good. Highly recommend it!”

“For me I wouldn't stay here again, but that's not too easy it's all bad. We paid under £64 for 1 night, checking in was awkward but we're shown to our room. The room was an ok size, for floor was slightly dirty resulting in bits in and on the bed. 3 windows but only 2 blinds... The mattress was shallow and hard. Breakfast was included and all waiter service, he was great, helpful with a little humour. We had plenty of choices.”

“I stayed one night as attending an event in Stroud. The room was adequate and clean enough. When I came back from my event at around 11:30pm, the pub was closed (fair enough) and the outside door and first inner door to access the accommodation were both unlocked which made me a little concerned for security (the inner door should have been automatically locked and accessed via a fob). Around 3:30am I was woken with one or more people checking and opening/closing other bedroom doors. My door handle got tried but no one came in or said anything. There was no other talking and no peep hole for me to see who it was so I sat tight and the noise passed. It might simply have been other guests accessing their rooms but the lack of any chat seemed odd if that was the case. The staff were friendly. Unfortunately I didn’t have time for breakfast in the morning but it looked good. ”

“A very lovely place to stay. Situated on the side of a valley with great views. The rooms have their own entrance straight from the carpark. Nice sized "oldy worldy" rooms with a modern decor and finish. Nice lounge and all of the normal facilities. Lovely bed and duvet. Didn't have a breakfast as we had to be off but had lunch and the meal was one of the best we've had for sometime. We just wished that we could have stayed longer as we didn't get to try all of the fully stocked bar with local ales we haven't tried . I would definitely recommend the Bell in for it's smart and friendly staff and personal attention.”
