I stayed one night as attending an event in Stroud. The room was adequate and clean enough. When I came back from my event at around 11:30pm, the pub was closed (fair enough) and the outside door and first inner door to access the accommodation were both unlocked which made me a little concerned for security (the inner door should have been automatically locked and accessed via a fob). Around 3:30am I was woken with one or more people checking and opening/closing other bedroom doors. My door handle got tried but no one came in or said anything. There was no other talking and no peep hole for me to see who it was so I sat tight and the noise passed. It might simply have been other guests accessing their rooms but the lack of any chat seemed odd if that was the case. The staff were friendly. Unfortunately I didn’t have time for breakfast in the morning but it looked good.

We were looking for an overnight stay within walking distance of the town centre and chose well ! Great pub, friendly and helpful staff, were expecting us and we got shown straight to our room which was very clean and comfy. Breakfast was included which was very tasty, all locally supplied foods. 10 min walk into Stroud and next the the canal if you fancy a stroll. Def recommend.

I found the staff very friendly, the bed comfortable and room & linen clean (notwithstanding one or two cobwebs dangling). I was forewarned that the room over the bar could be noisy but I did not find it a problem and it quietned immediately on closing. That particular room does have a bit of an unpleasant “plumbing “smell, but not too bad. I slept well (I don’t always). The pub serves an interesting menu in the evening and I really enjoyed my two course meal for about £21. There is ample parking right outside the door, the traffic is busy on this road) and it really is 5 minutes walk into town (once in town, it is up a little hill). Don’t get caught out with no dinners offered after 4pm on Sunday night, they did warn, pre-booking but I forgot after a long busy day. Just 5 minutes walk back into town Ithere were places to eat. Overall, I would recommend a stay & a meal here.
