“I needed a stopover on a car trip across Portugal and found a bargain for this gem. The location is in the vineyards of the Douro Valley, the panorama is absolutely stunning, but there are no attractions within walking distance (although you can walk to a nearby village from the back gate). The room was in good condition, air condition strong, shower pressure good (rainshower plus a high pressure hand held shower), the mattress was good too. Minibar and restaurant prices were reasonable (I paid 50EUR for a 4-course dinner with wines). There was fresh pressed orange juice for breakfast, but no eggs cooked to order, which is disappointing for a 5*. There were also no beef or lamb dishes on the dinner menu - only pork, veal and fish. There was a certain lack of privacy: windows of rooms on the ground level go out to a lawn, and anyone can walk on that lawn and have a peek inside your room. Some rooms have views to the gorgeous outside swimming pool, and again, when walking from the pool to the building, I had to be careful not to look into those rooms. Overall, I loved the experience and would love to stay here again.”
