“Did not disappoint. Comfortable bed, great bath, hot, powerful shower. Perfectly cooked breakfast and attentive staff. We managed to park 2 nights on site but limited spaces. However, relatively cheap parking available a 5 minute walk away.”

“Upon arriving there was not a single sign which directed you to the hotel, simply the Dartington estate as a whole. It was not clear which car park you could use and where the hotel was located from the car park, clearer signs are needed. Turns out the check in desk is within a national trust building and is not just a dedicated place for hotel guests. The room itself was clean, tidy and spacious. I could not fault the room at all. The grounds were beautiful and there was a on site cinema, pub amongst other things to see and do on the estate. Breakfast was a complete shambles and I did report this to the staff when I checked out. The breakfast was not replenished regularly. There was only 2 staff members who I felt very sorry for as everyone was very angry and complaining. There was not enough mugs, plates, bowls etc, so we were given throwaway coffee cups. I also found a hair in my breakfast!! The choices other than a very rubbish cooked breakfast (when you could actually get a decent plate) was a homemade granola, which tastes spicy and some cornflakes. No option of fruit or pastries which was disappointing! My parents also stayed at this hotel at the same time as we attended a wedding nearby. On the morning of check out my dad slipped in the shower and hit his head on the radiator. The floor in the bathroom was absolutely soaked, even though a bath mat was provided it was clear that there was an issue with the drainage. I would not recommend for older people or young children, definitely a safety issue. When this was reported to hotel staff upon checkout, the staff didn’t even know where their accident book was and did not offer for a first aider to check on him and make sure he was ok. The staff also shouted across the room which was insensitive, asking for further information about the fall. I would not recommend this stay! ”

“Had a 3 night stay during the Easter holidays. The staff were amazing from the moment we stepped into the hotel/pub. Welcoming, helpful, friendly and so great with our 3 year old son. A real family run place and a beautiful location. Room was clean and comfortable and breakfast had everything you needed and cooked fresh to order. We would definitely recommend it for a quiet retreat away from hustle and bustle of city life. Thank you Waterman's Arms, see you again soon!”
