“We stayed for 2 nights in room 6 - a comfy bed and a great view from the window. We ate at the Hotel both nights for evening meal and the food was excellent I noticed lots of empty plates as people all finished their meals. Breakfast was continental but a good range of things on offer but to be fair I do prefer full English but it didn’t put us off. All in all a good place to stay and we would certainly return. “I was late for check-in at 8:00 PM and was unable to check in, leaving me without a place to stay. My planned arrival time was 6:00 PM, but I drove from Cotswolds that day. I didn't account for traffic sufficiently and was significantly late. I had been told that the final check-in time was 8:00 PM. At 6:00 PM, I sent an email informing them that I would be late until 8:30 PM due to traffic. However, I received a very cold response, being told that there would be no staff after 8:00 PM and that I should find another hotel. I rushed down the highway, slightly exceeding the speed limit, and arrived at 8:12 PM, but the parking lot right next to the hotel was chained off, and I received no response despite ringing the intercom and sending emails. My mother, who suffers from severe lower back pain and spinal stenosis and has unstable walking, was stranded without a place to stay in a remote, foreign country, which was extremely difficult. Given this treatment, I felt it was outrageous that they refused a full refund. I do not recommend this hotel. I also have a complaint about Agoda listing such a hotel. From now on, I will have to be more careful when searching for hotels. I will no longer use Agoda.”

“Host was so accommodating, arrived late due to bad weather on the motorway but still very welcoming despite late arrival. Very attentive at breakfast, my sons have allergies..I informed them prior, Everything provided was carefully checked. Breakfasts was very tasty. ”

“Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Beautifully decorated, comfy bed and immaculate room. Such attention to detail with a selection of dishes for breakfast. Really enjoyed finding out about the history of the house - a real treasure of a find. ”

“Good location near the town-centre. We received a warm welcome with fresh, home-baked cookies. Breakfast is served in the room.”

“We stayed one night on our journey from Edinburgh to Winchester. This proved to be an excellent stopover. Very good access from motorway. We were upgraded to an apartment which we found to be exceptional accommodation. Evening meal in the hotel was good and breakfast was first rate. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Overall a very enjoyable stay and highly recommended. ”

“We stopped over at this traditional village pub in beautiful Yorkshire on the to Scotland for Hogmanay. Great room size for us & our little puppy. Comfortable beds. Great shower. Decor is a mixture of traditional with contemporary in rooms & pub which we loved. Food was amazing, both dinner & breakfast. Staff were friendly & went over & above to make us & our puppy Dave feel welcome & relaxed. I even got an espresso martini which was not on the menu made to perfection. We stopped off for lunch on our way to Yorkshire for the next leg of our mini break but they unfortunately could not accommodate at time desired due to a big party booking. This is testimony to the standard of this pubs hospitality & quality of food. We will definitely be using it again as frequent travellers to see friends in Scotland.
