“The hotel and grounds were beautiful, located a short walk from the centre of Hawick and the owners, Dave and Sue were charming and friendly. Our room was huge, breakfast was great and the place was very dog friendly. However, several things let the place down. The electric shower was very tricky to operate, resulting in no shower the first morning - perhaps instructions would be helpful, and the towels were very small. I am quite small, and the bath towel didn’t wrap round me, let alone my husband. No clean towels each day although they were soaking and the heating was off, so we couldn’t dry them on the rail. The duvet was very thick and heavy and in spite of asking for a lighter one, this was not forthcoming and it was very hot weather. On the first day, the bedroom was not serviced. We knew that dinner was not being served, and decided that bar meals would be adequate, but found that the menu ran to soup, burger, omelette or quiche, with salad, chips extra. That said, the burger was very good, and home made. Although the hosts made us feel very welcome, it seemed as if they were running the hotel as a hobby. We have stayed in many other hotels where for the same cost, the facilities were far superior. I know the hotel is on the market and feel Sue and Dave are letting things slide. Such a shame, because they are lovely people and this beautifully decorated hotel could be a star.”

“We had a fabulous overnight stay at the Bedrule Old Manse. The inside is cozy and comfortable. The bedroom was a good size with a very large en-suite bathroom that’s totally updated and modern. The common spaces are very relaxing. Wow. The breakfast was amazing with home made preserves and lots of very tasty food. If you are a Turnbull there is no better place. Just a short walk up the hill to the Bedrule church and to the left across the field are the ruins to Bedrule castle. We would definitely stay again The location is perfect and the owners are exceptional. ”
