“Overall there is nothing seriously wrong with this hotel. But the windows face High St without privacy screening . The hotel is unmanned so going in after dark as a single woman didn't feel correct. And at the moment there is heating issues hence very cold rooms (which i am sure will be sorted but note no aircon would imagine not pleasant in summer either ) ”

“Upon arriving the hotel was clean and staff were friendly. The room itself (executive double) was lovely for the price. My only downfall was that the bed was two singles pushed together and during the night kept finding myself in the dip which was rather annoying and so didn’t have the best sleep. The breakfast was included and it was very basic but there was everything there to fill up on, we had dinner the previous night and although the place was empty it did take over an hour for 3 small starters to arrive but didn’t bother us as we were enjoying a drink. However overall for the price it was value for money, clean and peaceful. The only reason I probably wouldn’t stay again is due to the bed situation unless I was staying alone. ”

“This is a very comfortable, classy hotel with great attention to detail. The building is possibly Victorian so it has high ceilings and wide corridors with lovely wood work throughout. The decor is elegant and classic understated British. The rooms are really comfortable as are the beds. Breakfast is freshly cooked and waiter service, no buffet. This is my favourite hotel in Colchester.”

“Budget overnight stay, ideal for city, car park perfect if have a small car (extremely narrow entrance). Lovely buffet breakfast! Staff friendly. Rooms old-fashioned but clean & comfy.”

“A hotel with vintage design, the triple room was spacious and come with coffee machine. Comfy and relaxing. The downside is the cleanliness can be improved especially the carpet.”
