“I loved my stay at the Merrill House. Our room was cozy and stylish. I loved the little details like the Nespresso machines in the room, the cocktails in the bar fridge and the little welcome treats. The shower was wonderful and it was nice to be a very short walk to many restaurants like the Royal on Main Street in picton. Would stay again! ”

“Such a cute little place. Rooms were spacious, cute and lots of attention to detail. Dustin was a gem and sitting round the fire talking to other guests was a lot of fun. I've stayed elsewhere at a similar style motel and liked this better. Great value for money. Breakfast was a bit underwhelming but a minor quibble given the rest of the experience. Highly recommended!”

“I loved the overall concept, and the rooms were comfortable and everything is set up beautifully. The restaurant was also excellent. However, considering the premium prices, the experience felt more restrictive than relaxing. There are many rules explained upon arrival, and the level of monitoring around the pool can feel excessive. Requiring a wristband to access the pool seems unnecessary when guests could simply show their room key. Guests should also be permitted to bring their own water bottles to the pool, especially on hot summer days. The pool hours are also very limited for summer days. only open 10-6. Food and drink prices are quite steep, which makes spending a full day by the pool unnecessarily expensive. At this price point, basic conveniences and greater flexibility should be part of the experience. The bicycles could also be complimentary for hotel guests for at least a few hours rather than treated as another paid add-on. It was also disappointing that parts of the property closed relatively early, particularly during summer when it remains light well past 9:00 p.m. A lakeside property should allow guests to enjoy the grounds and sunset later into the evening. The rooms are nice, but a few practical improvements would make them more functional. The bathroom, for example, could use hooks or additional space for hanging towels and clothing. Overall, this is a beautiful property with a fantastic setting and plenty of potential. However, the high prices, additional charges and numerous restrictions make the experience feel less welcoming”
