“Bed is awful and you can feel the mattress springs and sheets with holes in it. Dirty an No cleaning in those 5 nights there. No toilet paper, no soap, no wifi and also the roof is made with asbestos. really not recommend it, I slept there only 1 of the 5 nights booked. ”

“Joy Bungalow is a lovely place. Each bungalow is its own wooden building with a gorgeous, outdoor shower and a porch. Many of the bungalows have hammocks and there are also hammocks and chairs on the beach. There is a restaurant with great food and coffee and a bar with happy hour from 4pm to 6pm. If you haven’t been to Koh Jum before, it is very peaceful compared to the other islands. Please keep in mind that it is a remote area. There is not hot water and you should bring a flashlight. The staff are very friendly and help with anything you need. They go above and beyond to help their guests. I can’t wait to return to Joy Bungalow on my next trip.”

“I liked the resort, even though it's right on the beach, but I must say it's a bit isolated. Even with a moped, driving at night will be a little risky because the road leading to the resort isn't paved. This means it will be easier to have dinner at the hotel! The staff at the hotel are 5-star, especially the girls who work in the restaurant. For those who want a decent view of the sea, they should choose the rooms located higher up. Don't choose the Grand Beachfront villa; it's right above the restaurant and the view is very limited. It's close to the beach but doesn't have the best view, and the villa's roof is thatched or bamboo, but it's so dry that the room and bed have to be swept constantly.”

“Quick note before the review to put this into context. These are not your average cheap huts, this is next level and comes with the price tag! But it's definitely worth that price tag if you are looking for a little slice of luxury... KJBV is a magical haven in a less travelled island. The beach it sits behind is long, and was a little tatty towards the end of the season whilst we were there - it's quite rocky especially when the tide is out, but we spent most of our time in our private pool in Baan Sabai, or in the larger (cooler) pool close to the restaurant available to all guests. The villas are fantastic, and built to a very high standard and design ethic. All are tucked away amongst jungle or are beach side, but they all give a wonderful secluded feel. Lots of wildlife here - sea eagles, monitor lizards, birds... and whilst we didn't actually see the monkeys we heard them hooting every day. We had fantastic breakfasts delivered to our villa every morning, too much for us to eat, so we had to reduce our daily order. The food at the restaurant was delicious and well priced. Our hosts gave us a couple of recommendations where to eat locally that were great (especially Koh Jum Seafood) and from Jum we had a great day trip out up to Chicken and Poda Islands and Railay Beach. The locals on Koh Jum and the staff at KJBV made ours a memorable stay on Koh Jum. If you are looking for a little luxury on a quiet island, and can afford it - I would highly recommended Koh Jum Beach Villas.”

“This is a rustic resort with easy access to the beach no matter which bungalow you stay in. The food is good and both food and drinks are reasonably priced. You need to know that the non-a/c bungalows are not sealed, that is you'll be sleeping with geckos and insects. The mosquito net over the bed is more to protect you from lizard poop that mosquitos. I had to cover my luggage with towels to avoid it getting pooped on. The wifi only works in the restaurant area as well, an important note for remote workers. Overall a decent place to stay on a budget.”

“We booked 4 nights in a bungalow. It was as described in the details although slightly dated. The lock on the door was broken and the receptionist said a man would come to fix it the next day! However you could lock it from the inside. The accommodation whilst ‘cute/romantic’ for couples was extremely noisy in the early hours due to the local wildlife. Birds were lovely but pigs, dogs, cats and one morning the Thai National Anthem played at full blast made it not quite the romantic chilled getaway one expected. The breakfast was average. The pool was nice enough and the view beautiful however the beach was too rocky to swim. The gentleman on the front desk was always very smiley, charming and helpful. However, my daughter had been travelling for 2 months before I came out to join her and at no point had she experienced anywhere that was totally cash only. (Our mistake maybe?) We found no ATMs on Koh Jum and the hotel wouldn’t cash us any money. It was a shame as we ran out of cash & wouldn’t be able to eat out/shop etc but could eat at the hotel every evening. However on the second morning a sign appeared on reception to say the restaurant was closing in the evenings and would only serve breakfast from 1/4/25 and the bar would also be shut I asked to cash some money and was told no. I asked why the restaurant was closed and was told it was nearing the end of the season so was quiet! This was March so not really end of season. We now could only have breakfast to last all day! By mid afternoon we were hungry and the receptionist called the manager when I said that it was unacceptable to take our booking knowing the facilities weren’t all available. She agreed finally to cash us some money. Lots of the local eateries were also closing for food so it became impossible to find anywhere to eat. We left after 2 nights. So whilst the receptionist was a lovely man I would not recommend this hotel. ”
