“The food at pum pui is delicious! The service can be slow, but it's nice to have a more relaxed pace enforced sometimes. As long as you have the bug spray to not be food yourself. 😂 The key to enjoying Koyao Island resort imo is learning how to manage the mosquitoes. If you, like me, are Beloved Of Bugs, then you will likely need to wear bug spray as soon as the sun starts setting. They provide plenty of natural citronella based bug spray, but I found this was not a strong enough repellant to protect me. The soffell-brand mosquito spray you see in all pharmacies across Thailand worked great though! You just have to be willing to put up with the skin texture enough to sleep in it 😫 luckily there is a gorgeous outdoor shower in the private walled backyard of every villa, which made the process of rinsing off sweat and bug spray multiple times a day a true delight. My first night here, we arrived with a suitcase full of sweaty clothes, and decided to try just running the fan instead of the A/C. Big mistake. Turns out mosquitoes are attracted to the smell of sweat, and many of them got into the mosquito net throughout the night, a situation only worsened by attempting to hide under the blankets. I did not sleep well that night, and seriously considered booking elsewhere. Luckily, when I asked for help from the front desk, they had housekeeping apply an additional spray throughout the room. This combined with enough a/c to avoid sweating through the night, wearing bug spray, and laundering all those sweaty clothes, made it so that I was able to sleep through the night! Another thing to note was that I was recovering from a throat infection, so my throat was easily irritated by the mosquito foggers they set in the rooms. The smoke actually smells great, I just was in the unlucky position where breathing it would make me cough and keep me awake as well. The second night onwards, we moved one out of the room and relied on bug spray to make up the difference. The bug spray made me cough too, but only on application. The mosquito net does create a degree of separation from the view, but being able to wake up and walk across the yard to the beach for sunrise was amazing. Rooms are well spaced from each other, but unfortunately everyone has clear visibility into your room when walking by, so if you want to take full advantage of the romantic view you're better off booking 9 hornbills, which is adults only. We adored finding a frog in our lamp when we first checked in. The room is kept incredibly clean, given that the glass walls aren't sealed to the roof and there are open vents in the doors, so critter friends are free to come and go as they please. They stay out of the way if you're not looking for them, but we definitely were looking for them! We found a friendly little rat snake behind the tissue box on night two, and a snail companion behind the toilet in our bathroom. The floors have a beautifully smooth and cool texture to walk on; I still want to know what kind of wood they used! The Koyao facial they offer at the spa is a delicious and relaxing multisensory experience, I highly recommend it and will be trying to replicate parts of it at home! Overall, it's an unbeatable price for a semi-private, quiet, direct beachfront location facing the sunrise, and that absolves many of the difficulties I had adjusting. I got the sense that I got exactly my money's worth overall. A thing to note on that- with my discount booking, the transfer to the island was not included. If you book through the front desk they'll book a 6000bht private longtail for you depending on your time of availability. There's a cheaper 650bht fare to manao pier, but the last boat out from ao nang is around 3pm, so be sure to plan your day accordingly. ”

“Booked sea view and that’s what I got! Beautiful view of sunrise everyday, nature wake-up call with light streaming through the curtains. No blockout curtains. Place provides the basic necessities. A hard bed but it’s alright with me. Place has been around for quite some time, and it’s made of wood, a rustic stay. Overall a pleasant stay, and will return if I am to visit this island again.”

“We love Koh Yao Noi for being a bush island with a great tourist vibe. This is our 3rd time to the island and 2nd time at Coastal Escapes. We generally go in the low season, and coming from Singapore the rain doesn’t really worry us. The staff here are fantastic, very friendly, helpful, and attentive. The food and accomodation is great quality too. The place really looks like the pictures. Our kids enjoy swimming in the main pool or private plunge pool, ordering fruit plates, and taking long boat rides to the islands that you can see from your room. You can eat at the resort or take the bikes or car to many local places to eat. You can eat fancy or basic and be active or relaxed. Highly recommended.”

“We stayed at the hotel for five nights and it was just perfect, a very spacious villa, designed to a high standard with a fully equipped kitchen and everything you need in a villa including lounge areas in front of the pool and the sea. A pampering boutique hotel that is quiet and not crowded, the hotel has only 8-9 villas, a huge deep pool with a jacuzzi in it, and shaded sunbeds all around. The hotel is suitable for couples and small families who are looking for a relaxed and quality vacation. The hotel staff is very helpful, Nancy and Noni were amazing, they helped us a lot: with the arrival and departure arrangements, renting a motorbike, kayak and a private daily cruise to the nearby islands. The food in the hotel is very tasty and cheap, we had dinner four out of five nights and it was perfect. 2 minutes walk from the hotel there are restaurants and a massage. The location of the hotel is the highest quality area on the island and is hardly affected by high tides. We were at the beginning of June and the hotel was partially occupied so we had a private pool. ”

“If you are looking for an escape from the real world, this is the hotel to stay at. The tent is massive and is very luxurious, there is no TV and you just connected with nature. The staff are very friendly and super kind. The views from our tent were gorgeous and we spent hours just chilling by the pool. There are alot of insects outside and you will get bitten by mosquitoes but its the perfect break from the busy touristy parts of thailand. The island is superchill and untouched, in terms of nightlife most placed close at 10 PM. I would definitely recommend this place as part of a honeymoon. Thank you 9 hornbills ”
