“We are group of 6-adults & a 3-year old. Overnight stay. This property is quite small but with great facilities and service. Friendly staff and lifeguards are always on the lookout. Our great appreciation and thanks to the lifeguard who saved our 3-year old who accidentally fell into the deep. The lifeguard's reaction was instant. No serious injuries, only the child's bruised ego. The only con was the breakfast I ordered which was tocilog. The pork was all fats, I didn't ate it. I should have ordered cornbeef instead. This place is pricey, it's a bit up there. (BAKADA RM. P8,500 good for 2-Adults only but it accomodate 6-adults; Additional P1,500 per additional adult = 4adult x P1,500 = P6,000; Total P14,500. The room was very clean, smells clean and very cold (2-split type aircon). The room was small for our group but it has well thought layout with small kitchenette making it comfortable for the occupants. It has two comfy bunk beds. However the balcony was huge, the same size as the interior. It made the difference. Overall this place is a gem and the location is great, just a five minutes ride from the wharf (barge dock). We enjoyed our stay even it rained heavily that night, we just dip in the pool under the heavy rain, with a beer at hand. It doesn't get better than that. (Pool is open until 8:00PM). Very memorable. We will surely be back given the chance. Thank you very much for the fast acting lifeguards. You deserved an award. “We were expecting this place to have an accessible beach that we could all swim in, but this isn’t the case. The beach is probably fine for adults, but not for small children. It needs to be cleaned up as there is loose concrete & rocks in the shallow area of beach. There’s also quite a bit of seaweed. I wore some swimming shoes & walked along the shallow water along the front edge & it was refreshing. They do have a nice, clean swimming pool though & it has a shallow end that’s about 2-3 feet deep (good for kids) that gradually gets deeper as you go to the left, with the deeper area at end of pool being a little under 6 ft deep (it was slightly taller than me & I’m 5 foot 10inches). They also have a smaller swimming pool with a slide for small children. The room we stayed in had some minor issues that could be corrected with some minor maintenance (the bathroom sink was clogged with hair or something, so it drained slow). The AC worked great though & the room was a nice refuge to escape the heat outside. ”

“It was our first time checking in at Discovery Samal, and overall, it is a beautiful resort with exceptionally pleasant, friendly, and efficient staff. The Good: Seamless Travel: Having their own exclusive port in Davao was a huge plus, making the boat ride to the island short and convenient. The Resort & Rooms: The resort itself is stunning with great amenities and beautiful views. Our room was huge, incredibly comfortable, and offered a fantastic view of the beach, ensuring a very pleasant night's sleep. Service: The staff throughout our stay were consistently warm and accommodating. Areas for Improvement: Strict Outside Food Policy: We weren't aware that outside food and drinks were strictly prohibited. Because we caught the earliest boat ride and grabbed coffee and snacks for the trip, we had to stand outside to finish them before boarding. Underwhelming Dining: The food was a bit of a letdown for a resort of this caliber. The fish and chips we had for lunch were bland and had a strong, fishy (malansa) aftertaste. Breakfast Buffet: The breakfast had a great, varied selection for the main dishes, and the pastries were decent, but the coffee bar was incredibly slow. Final Verdict: You are truly paying for a gorgeous luxury resort and top-tier service. While the aesthetics and hospitality are excellent, the culinary experience definitely has room to improve.”

“I had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever encountered with a resort manager during our recent trip. My friends and I arrived in Davao City from Zamboanga City after attending a wedding, and we decided to spend a day tour in Samal Island. While having lunch, we got tired and spontaneously decided to stay overnight. I booked two rooms through Agoda. As someone who is very particular about cleanliness, especially the toilet, I chose this resort because the photos looked clean, well maintained, and aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill upon check-in. The front office attendant provided unclear information, lacked proper guidance, and failed to offer available options. Instead, it felt like we were being pushed to pay more when there were clearly other alternatives. Already exhausted from travel, I requested to speak to the manager, and that’s when things became worse. The manager, Mr. JUN DIAMANTE, demonstrated a complete lack of customer service. His approach was unprofessional, outdated, and dismissive. Instead of resolving the issue, he escalated the situation. His tone was raised, his body language was aggressive (hands on his waist), and he made us feel unwelcome. At one point, we considered canceling our stay despite the booking being non-refundable. Rather than trying to recover the situation or retain us as guests, JUN DIAMANTE appeared indifferent, almost as if the priority was simply the payment already secured, not the guest experience. What was most disappointing was that Mr JUN DIAMANTE walked away and left the front office staff to deal with the situation, without any resolution. That said, I want to acknowledge that the rest of the team was excellent—friendly, attentive, and accommodating. In fact, we spent nearly ₱10,000 on dinner because the service staff made us feel well taken care of. The following morning, I had the opportunity to speak with the owner, Mr. Rodriguez. I genuinely appreciate his calm, professional, and kind approach in listening to my concerns. It was a complete contrast to the experience we had with MR JUN DIAMANTE. This resort has great potential and a strong team—but one poor leader like JUN DIAMANTE can significantly impact the entire guest experience. Additionally, there is only one socket in the entire room, and the shower handle is very difficult to twist—I almost got a sprain.”

“Staffs were so good but bathrooms needs renovation.. all fixtures are broken starting from common CR to room restrooms. But very calm nice place .. very helpful staffs!! Company vehicle and transport was very accommodating. Our stay with friends are awesome except this minor issues. ”

“Dirty Room and smelly bathroom needs to remind them to clean the room, serve food in the bar for more than hour , no enough choices for breakfast not for foreigner choice.. have karaoke but not functioning that time , we ask for billiard not functioning to , since nothing to do there except the pool , we stayed there fo 3nights at super boring nothing to do.LastLy if u ask the staff they don't know how to answer need to ask there co worker .
