“The owner of Bamboo Lodge went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay at the resort. He managed everything seamlessly from the moment we arrived until the end of our visit, making us feel truly well taken care of. The food was exceptionally delicious, and the view from our room was absolutely stunning, overlooking the ocean. The bamboo structure of the lodge added a beautiful natural touch, and the bathroom was spacious and clean. Overall, I believe this is one of the best resorts in Sumba. It offers an unforgettable experience!”

“I stayed in room number 4, and overall the experience was comfortable and worth it. The cabin was neat, cozy, and had a beautiful view facing the beach. Even when it was raining, the atmosphere still felt really relaxing and enjoyable. The Wi-Fi was very fast, the water heater worked well, and I liked that you could change the room lighting colors, which made the cabin feel more fun and cozy. The location is also great, only around 5 minutes from the beach. The only issue I had was that the bathroom had a slight smell, possibly coming from the water heater area. It wasn’t a huge problem, but it was noticeable. The staff were generally okay, but I was a bit disappointed about one thing. Room number 4 didn’t have the umbrella/shade covering the chairs outside. When I asked about it, the staff said it would be installed at 3 PM, then later said 4 PM, but it never happened. I would have preferred a direct and honest answer instead of being told something that wasn’t actually going to happen. Aside from that, overall it was still a nice, comfortable, and worthwhile stay with a great beachside vibe.”

“Before we came to Lelewatu Resort, we read a lot of bad comments, so we were concerned what to expect. One thing for sure: the management completely left behind the hotel (according to the Indonesian media, there is some legal case ongoing, so the appointed GM is in Bali). The place is like several 5* hotels were in Bali during the covid, when some cost efficiency measurements were taken: a few things are missing from the full ‘luxurious experience’, but the villa we stayed at was still stunning, the interior was beautiful and it was clean in general. The staff was extremely kind, though they speak basic English, so it can help if you speak a little Indonesian (or just use google translate). Breakfast was good and portions were quite big, we had the American and the healthy breakfast bowl. We had dinner there too, which was okay, but I highly recommend to ask what is fresh that day (fish or maybe some Indonesian dishes), because we had concerns about the rib eye steak (the tenderloin was okay though). On another note, the standbying manager handled the situation very well. The organized trip was amazing: the price was reasonable, the driver was super attentive (he was not a guide, but accompanied us during the trip and he knew the best spots to take photos at), also the hotel included umbrellas, towels and even some snacks. The places we visited were very beautiful, if you visit Sumba, I highly recommend to try these trips. In general I think it worth to visit for a few nights, and if you have any concerns regarding the food or the room’s cleaniness, just tell them. I live in Indonesia for 8 years and I can guarantee you, you will never find a better deal for such a nice private pool villa in Indonesia.”

“The place itself is nice. Over priced for what you get, but as that’s common in Sumba, so not really big deal. But while the owner back to EU, the staff just can’t run it properly. The room was not cleaned upon our arrival, we had to wait them clean, 45mins went by, when they finished, we found meshes near the bed. The deluxe room is in good size but urgently need some renovation, especially in the bathroom. Wifi not always working, and the staff changed wifi name without informing us. Worst part was the rental bike, we had to chose between a bike without front breaker or a scooter with overused tires (because the staff don’t care at all when the owner is away, and when you pointed out, they just don’t get it or pretend don’t understand) , so the result was the tire went away while we driving. NOT SAFE! We had to spend 2hrs to fix it while renting it.. when we return, the staff was pissed off, no “thank you”, no “sorry”, as maybe we told the owner what happened?! However, the owner replied us, and paid for the fixing. The good we can think about was the chef, he was great, always took good care of us. Rua beach is nice too, great for a walk. ”
