“We have just returned from a two night stay at The White Lion. We were met by the lovely friendly Beverley who upgraded our room. Very grateful for that. The room was large, had stylish features, but was tired. The bed was firm, not good for me, but my husband was happy. Toiletries provided in the bathroom and a good selection of tea, coffee and honesty bar snacks. Breakfast on the first day wasn't great. The pastries seemed to be old. We opted for the cooked breakfast. Streaky bacon was overcooked, mushrooms had seen better days, but the sausages were really nice! We opted for sourdough toast which we returned as we would have broken our teeth attempting to bite it! Breakfast on the second day was better. Everything seemed fresher and more tasty. Would I stay here again? Yes, absolutely as the location is perfect for the steam train and a visit to Chapel Down Vinery and the staff are lovely. It just needs a good refresh.”
