The gardens aren’t actually part of the property, which feels quite misleading given how they’re portrayed in the photos. It was difficult to find the hotel because we kept expecting it to be the building with the garden in front of it. The staff were kind, but they messed up our booking. Even though I had specifically selected a double bed through the booking app, we were given a twin room and told the hotel was fully booked. Under normal circumstances this wouldn’t have been a huge issue, but we were celebrating our first wedding anniversary, so it was a little disappointing. The hotel itself has a lovely vintage charm, but if you’re older or travelling with heavy luggage, be aware that there are no elevators. Unfortunately, a staff member watched us carry our heavy bags upstairs without offering any assistance. The rooms upstairs can also be quite noisy. We were woken up very early by loud thumping footsteps from the room above, likely due to the creaky floors. The breakfast was fairly underwhelming as well. That said, for a one-night stay it’s perfectly manageable, just don’t expect the experience the photos might lead you to imagine.”
