The staff were lovely and it’s in a great location but the owners need to do some serious updating. We booked 2 cottages. The bathrooms are very old, with broken tiles and basic fittings. The air-con was noisy and the wi-Fi was very hit and miss. The food was uninspiring (coffee at breakfast undrinkable). The place was full of large coach parties. They had really bad (and loud) live entertainment in the evenings. The cocktails were so weak that you couldn’t taste the alcohol. The rooms looked so beautiful in the photographs but are quite run down. We were disappointed

Sigiriya Village Hotel is a nice resort-style property with peaceful surroundings and charming touches like ducks roaming around. It’s best suited for at least a two-night stay; if you’re only there for one night to do Sigiriya and Pidurangala hikes, it feels overpriced since you won’t have time to enjoy the resort. Rooms are quite basic with minimal amenities (you may even need to ask for room slippers), so don’t expect luxury. Breakfast is decent but limited, with a mix of Western, South Indian, and Chinese options. One odd downside is the dress code at breakfast: men aren’t allowed to wear shorts or sleeveless t-shirts, while women can. This feels inconsistent, especially since the pool is right next to the restaurant. Most guests are from South Asia, with fewer Western travelers compared to cheaper alternatives nearby. Overall: Great for a relaxing 2+ night stay in nature, but less value for short visits. ⭐ Rating: 3/5

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on a family visit. The hotel has beautiful landscaped gardens surrounded by plenty of trees. The hotel staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. The hotel has a beautiful swimming pool overlooking the Sigiriya rock and the dinning area is beautiful. There was music during dinner time. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the spread was good. The only downside is that the rooms are a bit dated and not enough natural light coming through. The rooms need renovation. Other than that the hotel was great and good location for Sigiriya Lion rock and Pidurangala rock visits.

Stayed with my extended family of 6 in two chalet type triple rooms. Rooms spread out around a spacious land area which provides a typical village atmosphere in a clean environment. Located at a walking range to Sigiriya rock fortress. We enjoyed our stay with friendly staff as well as the management. The breakfast buffet was very good with an international spread, where the Sri Lankan dishes found to be very delicious. Special thanks to the room service attendant who was courteous to call us back to deliver our left behind phone charger, even after when we have left the hotel.

The hotel has friendly staff and is good for families and couples. However, the rooms should include telephones and universal plug points, as well as more complimentary water. The pool, although small, closes around 7 pm and could benefit from longer opening hours. For breakfast, there could be more variety, including additional fruits, desserts, and a wider selection of foods for the price. Overall, it's recommended for families and couples, especially given its proximity to Sigiriya Rock."
