“I saw the reviews weren’t great, but figured how bad could it be if Wyndham kept their name on it. It was bad. First, I booked a suite with a sitting area so I could do a meeting. When I arrived they said they only had suites with one kind and two queens. I’m not having my guests sit on two queens for a meeting. It wasn’t that they were sold out, they just said their website was wrong and they didn’t know how to fix it. I didn’t realize this until I got the room. The person checking me in didn’t say a word, just said “1 night in a conference suite”. Total scam. Ok, so what if you just need a room? First, the lobby smell. Pungent home cooking that will saturate anything you wear. It smells like an unventilated curry kitchen. The lobby itself is baron - a couple of restaurants and bars that look like they’ve closed up for quite some time. The furniture is sparse and very worn and dated. The halls the room feel more like walking hospital floors - bright lights - wall scuffs… only hospitals wouldn’t be as dirty. This is the first time I have ever walked in and walked out of a hotel. I sincerely hope Wyndham pulls its brand off this property or else I’ll stop booking that brand. ”

“First, this is a wonderful upcycling of an historic warehouse building, and it was wonderfully well done about 20 years ago. In fact, so many of the buildings around OldTown are wonderfully repurposed. The hotel was and will be beautiful and well appointed inside and out, and our room was nicely appointed; comfortable bed, nice duvee, nice desk area, a kitchenette and fridge that would be great for a longer stay, and friendly helpful staff at all hours. The 'cupboard' downstairs is well stocked for food and convenience items to charge to your room at convenience store prices. We didn't have any food or beverages here, as our plans didn't allow for that, but both look good. That being said --- It would have been nice to know ahead of time that they are amidst renovation. If you go through reviews sufficiently, you will find this out, but personally, it is something that should be disclosed and not a surprise when you arrive to a giant green dumpster under the overhang by the front doors. If we had received advance notice of the renovation, I could then tell you I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of loud, sustained noise. We were on the second floor; they are remodeling the third and fourth. They did post on premises and in the room that renovations would try to be constrained to 8:30AM til 4:30PM each day, but the first day we had hoped to sleep in and were awakened a couple times. Again, had I known, I would have still booked, and it was annoying but tolerable. We did rarely see any construction workers or dirt/dust, and the elevators being 'wrapped' in masonite and kraft paper protection was the only overt signs (plus the giant dumpster). Other than that, our shower valve was incredibly touchy - from scald to cold if you touched it - but that's an easy fix for them. We'd book again, and definitely when construction is done. The history is terrific, the historical displays and memorabilia is great and well done, and the staff was unusually helpful.”
