“Hotel Estero Beach gets all the important things very right. The grounds are quite nice, and the beach views are epic. Make sure you get the ocean view room instead of pool view. They have live bands at the pool and the restaurant on the weekend which creates a fun atmosphere, but it never feels too hectic or like you can't relax. The room was very good, large and very clean with a fridge. The pool was excellent, and the staff were all super friendly. We had an internet outage at 9PM and they sent out a tech to our room who found one of the wifi antennas had shorted out and fixed it within a half-hour. The food at the restaurant was also very good, which a nice-sized menu and prices from reasonable (pizzas, burgers, tacos) to pricey (steaks and seafood.) Parking is easy and free; most of the staff spoke English, and the ones that did not were helpful anyway. Finally, there is a lovely little island a short kayak ride away that is lovely and teeming with birds, and an estuary (estero) just around the corner from the property which is also quite nice. In terms of scenery, value and relaxation, Estero is solid. Beds were comfy, and water pressure was very good. Oh, one mroe thing - while located 25 minutes south of the Ensenada centre, it is a very easy drive with well-maintained roads. We wound up going into town several times, as well as to the blowhole, all of which were very easy to get to. The negatives weren't so bad. The first is their website is broken, so booking directly is impossible, even with using multiple browsers. They also never responded to several emails in both English and Spanish about it, which is why we had to book with Agoda. The water is desalinated in the pool and the taps, and you can taste/feel the salt. It's not terrible, but one is definitely aware of it when swimming and after washing up. There is a stupid shortage of chairs by the pool, so on the weekend my wife and I could not find anyplace to sit. There was plenty of space; just not enough chairs. We wound up sitting on our deck instead, which was quieter and nice anyway, but the hotel needs to buy 50 more lounge chairs. The private beach is tiny, and it's cordoned off around 40m out. It's fine for a quick dip but not much more. Also again, not enough chairs at the beach, and several had no padding, which was uncomfortable, especially given the the beach is on a downward slope facing the water. Finally, while the restaurant was very good, there is only one (although they do have a small taco bar poolside and a swim-up bar, as well as drinks/food service at the beach! Which was great.) But another restaurant or a bar on the premises would have been ideal just for a place to go at night and for light snacks. But again, driving to town or other restaurants (even Costco) was easy and not far. Two thumbs up, a solid 8 out of 10. ”
