“I don't like properties with remote check-in generally, and even more so when this is not communicated prior to booking. I wouldn't have booked this had I known. We arrived at Center Rooms to be presented with a locked door and a sign with a phone number. I called this and the man who answered could not speak English. After hanging up, he contacted me by WhatsApp (presumably with the help of translation software) with instructions for checking in. Serious question: What if the customer doesn't have WhatsApp or international roaming? We'd have been stuck there on the street (with a 4 year old child) and nowhere to go and nobody to ask. I later found the property had emailed me earlier that daywith the same instructions, but I hadn't been checking my emails as I'd been travelling. Furthermore, these instructions were solely in Italian too. I imagine the vast majority of guests here are Italian, but still, at the point of booking it would have been clear that we were international visitors, and the property should have made provisions for our arrival.”
