“Our stay at Mapi's was exactly what we wanted. If you want a sanitized Western resort type of stay, then look elsewhere. We found an experience that felt genuine, quiet, and safe. Mapi's is located on a side street with two enormous mango trees right outside the doors. Paquera is a small village and we were able to walk into town for dinner at a SODA restaurant of traditional Costa Rican food. So fresh and delicious. Mapi's management is very responsive to emailed questions, and gave us a tip to check out the Curu Reserve, a short drive away. We spent the day there walking the trails (senderos) and taking a dip from the beautiful beach. We saw an amazing variety of wildlife there! The office at Mapi's is staffed (only during workday hours) by a wonderful woman who gifted us a few of the sweet mangos. But be aware that she only speaks Spanish. With a few basic Spanish words, we were able to communicate just fine. Our family of five adults agreed that we were quite happy with our stay at Mapi's Cabins.”
