The rooms were nice and clean. The lady at reception was amazing. The dinner was divine and value for money. Wish I could have stayed longer but will be back soon with my family

A young couple who visited the place on the 31 of December it’s very strict can’t play music can’t use fireworks.

Best place to relax only disadvantage is that it is situated next to N3 and car passing disturb the peacefulness of that place

Holiday We had an atrocious experiencing at Ascot Bush Lodge Firstly, the pictures they post online is not an accurate representation of the Lodge. It’s sandwiched between the Golden Cloud factory and the N3. You will hear traffic passing the entire night. Despite that we still tried to make the most of the place. After a 5 hour trip we were greeted by Adele at reception with not a very warm welcome. They could not find our booking and assumed we were mistaken. Arrived at the room ready to take a shower and sleep. The bathroom had mold on the ceiling. We informed them and they came in with mops and bleach to clean it. The room had a chemical smell so we opened the window and let it air out a bit. The bathroom still had a very strong mildew smell and there is black mold between the tiles. We tried to ignore. We ordered food from the restaurant which was overpriced, dry and the dessert was undercooked. As we were sleeping, we turned on the aircon. It was very hot during our stay so we had to turn it on to sleep comfortably. We were woken up by disgusting smelling water dripping on us from the aircon. So we slept leg side of the bed. In the morning we tried to address this amicably, to come to a fair resolution. The owner, Vermin, is extremely defensive and condescending. He refused to take accountability for his Lodge which is not up to standard. He mentioned that our mold concern is laughable. Our standard of “clean” is very different. Perhaps because we are people of colour he mentioned that we just want the money. It’s not about money, it’s about principle, something Vermin is deficient in. Though we booked for two nights we left a day early due to Vermin and his staff disgusting behaviour. We would rather cut our losses than have to deal with him. On our way out, he harassed us with his golf cart, trying to park us in. He asked me to roll down my window and said “This is my parking you C*nt” So there you have it. People of colour beware. They are “those” sort of people. I read other comments mentioning this but gave them the benefit of the doubt. They have proved all the negative reviews correct.

Beautiful space, rustic but beautifully crafted, rooms were clean and staff friendly and accommodating. Once inside the gates you forget you're still in Pietermaritzburg
