The hotel itself was adequately equipped and overall acceptable. The Executive room was very well furnished and comfortable. As for the canyon view – don’t necessarily expect a direct iconic bridge-facing view (I’m not even sure if such rooms really exist), but it was still a genuine canyon view, just from the opposite side;-) My main complaint, however, was quite serious. I had booked two non-smoking rooms, but one of them clearly smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The staff refused to change it, saying there were no other rooms available. That felt rather unprofessional, especially since this issue was neither mentioned beforehand nor reflected in the price. Overall, the hotel was decent, but the handling of the smoking-room issue made the experience less satisfactory than expected.

This place is a disappointment and doesn’t live up to the Novotel name. It’s poorly managed, the carpets were filthy, breakfast was low quality, and the whole hotel feels tired and outdated. I actually tried to change hotels when I arrived, but my booking was non‑refundable, so I had no choice but to stay. Honestly, I’ve stayed in hostels that were far better maintained. This experience has really put me off staying at a Novotel again.

When we arrived at the hotel around 11:15pm (all exhausted from our delayed flight), staff told us that they could not honor our reservation through Agoda because they are fully booked!!! What?! They then booked us to their affiliate hotel next door - Ibis (which was a horrible claustrophobic room - no place to put 2 luggages (we had to alternate using the bench when we need to open/access our luggage), it smelled awful and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for a while, there was only 1 bath towel, no soap, no trash can, the phone wasn’t working when we tried to call reception to ask for missing amenities. So we had to go down again back to Novotel and ask for missing items. The soap and shampoo came, but the bath towel and trash can never came (and we waited!). So we ended up sharing the 1 bath towel as we were so tired already and needed to sleep for our early tour the following day. The breakfast was horrible too - we had to wait for clean plates to be replenished and most of the food were gone even though there was still an hour left for the buffet breakfast time! There was no cheese at all, the coffee machine was almost empty, the omelet station didn’t have anymore ingredients other than eggs and minimal cheese, Such a horrible experience from beginning to end of our stay. Avoid Novotel Constantine at all cost. We enjoyed our Algeria tour, but this was the experience that spoiled it. Also check-in staff said that they will only charge us half price for all the inconvenience. But that never happened. The checkin staff did not inform the reception on duty when we checked out who asked us to go to Ibis instead to check out and we never got the discounted rate as promised. This back and forth process went on for a while that it cut into our tour time of Constantine. Our private tour with our local guide was delayed because of this so it shortened our tour itinerary that day. What a disaster that got compounded and exacerbated because we made the wrong decision to book with Novotel Constantine. 😣😖😠
