The Eden Beruwala

I have been many hotels around sri lanka but this time I choose to explore beach atmosphere and have different sea food so I choose occidental Eden. Have been to this same hotel 20 years ago with my father at that time I really enjoyed the food and the service so much. But after these 20 years I really felt nothing upgraded. Same as those days. And saw so many cost cutting things. Could not find hair dryer even In the room. Actually I booked superior ocean front room by looking at the advertisement in agoda in the impression of sea view from the room. But I got a ground look room which does not have sea view. And the food : I liked live stations of hoppers and omlet Addition to that Dosa station and pan cake station was available. Both dosa and pan cake were like rubber. Not good quality . I could not find much sea food items in the buffet. That was my main disappointment. Other food are above average but not best. Seems OK. And in the dinner also I could not fine much sea food in the items . Other than that I enjoyed but my expectation was not fulfilled.

Overall, the hotel is very good, especially by Sri Lankan standards, but in my opinion it doesn’t fully meet a true 5-star level. Pros: the breakfasts are excellent and very diverse, with a wide selection of food for every tast: both local and international options. The territory is large, green, and very well-maintained, perfect for relaxing walks. The pool area is great, clean, and nicely designed, with plenty of space to relax. The whole property is beautifully arranged and has a good atmosphere. It was especially nice to see wildlife around - squirrels and monitor lizards roaming freely. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and always willing to help, which makes the stay even more enjoyable. Cons: 1. The hotel is mainly designed for spending time inside the property - there’s not much to do outside. Once you leave, you find yourself on a busy road that isn’t very comfortable for walking without taking a tuk-tuk. 2. The photos should be updated. In reality the hotel looks more worn than in the pictures. It still looks good, but not as fresh as advertised. 3. Room facilities could be better for the stated level. 4. Housekeeping is quite weak and rather superficial. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but expectations from a 5-star hotel were slightly higher.

We enjoyed the stay at the hotel and my family enjoyed the facilities. I would give the hotel 7/10. The breakfast was not very good. We wanted to hire an online tuk to travel about but the driver was threatened to be beaten by the tuk drivers outside the gate. And their prices were very unfair. Even though its not the hotel's fault, its the guest's experience that matters. Hence 7 and not 9

Occidental Beruwala offers beautiful views and a lovely swimming pool — perfect for relaxing. The food was also quite good, with a nice variety of options. Overall, had a good time and enjoyed the stay

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Occidental Eden, and overall, it was a delightful experience. I was warmly welcomed by the staff. The room was comfortable and offered a lovely view, enhancing my stay. However, I did find the food and buffet spread to be somewhat lacking, which was a minor disappointment. Despite this, my overall experience was enjoyable, and I appreciate the hospitality provided during my visit.
