What an amazing hotel this is! A private island paradise and an experience you won’t get anywhere else. Isolated from everything and just surrounded by the beautiful views Fiji has to offer. The staff are lovely and the food is amazing. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy or plenty of spots to chill out and unwind. We came for our honeymoon and loved it however one thing did tarnish this experience for us unfortunately. Everything was going well until we discovered someone had helped themselves to some of our cash inside of our safe. But you know what they say, don’t let one bad apple spoil the bunch. So don’t let this put you off because it happens everywhere in the world. Just take this message as a sign to be more careful with your personal possessions. So that being said, would still recommend this lovely hotel.

We loved our visit to Matangi. All of the staff were really friendly and we loved spending the day at Horseshoe Bay with a private picnic. Kayaking with dolphins will be a lasting memory.

We traveled through Australia before ending our trip at Matangi Resort for two nights. We wish we could have stayed longer, but we had to get back to our kids. First off, I want to highlight the fact that this is a very welcoming and thoughtful hotel. Although check in is at 2pm, we were provided breakfast and lunch when we arrived at 9am. I was so happy because that makes the value even better! Although not "cheap," Matangi Resort is wayyyy more affordable than the other private island resorts. You can stop searching now and just book. You're welcome for saving you hours of your time. =) The experience reminded me of Hollywood movies where you travel through some outdated thoroughways before reaching a beautiful and surprisingly advanced location. Snorkeling is included and oh so beautiful. I never knew there were bright blue starfishes! Kayaking and paddle boarding is also available for no extra cost We ended up doing a cheese and wine excursion to Horseshoe Bay, which I definitely recommend! Make sure to ask staff about the tide though. We ended up selecting the afternoon when the tide was high so we didn't get as much beachy sand access as we wanted. I can't speak highly enough about the staff there. We definitely left a tip to the staff at the end because they were so amazing. Side note about tanning: I failed to put on enough sunblock on the first day and ended up with some redness. But unlike USA sun, I didn't peel at all. Not sure the science behind it, but I guess the tropical location probably had something to do with it. There is a spa on site that you should also visit. Basically, do everything because you'll enjoy it all! I will forever cherish the wonderful experience I had here.
