My recent stay at Shangri-La Hambantota had its highs and lows. This expansive beachfront luxury hotel, though promising, fell short of my expectations. The welcoming atmosphere I had hoped for was lacking, with most staff members failing to create a friendly and warm environment. However, there were a few exceptions. The main restaurant disappointed with uncomfortable seating arrangements, resembling chairs more suited for a wedding hall. Unclean and patchy cushioned chairs further marred the dining experience, compounded by limited food variety. Adding to my disappointment, the room left much to be desired. The bathtub's noticeable patches gave it an unclean appearance, casting doubt on its cleanliness. Despite these issues, the hotel does offer various activities, including a kids' and teen club with options like table tennis and checkers, as well as thrilling options like a Flying Trapeze and land activities. Golf enthusiasts will also find a golf course on the premises. In summary, my stay at Shangri-La Hambantota, set within a sprawling beachfront area, had its share of letdowns, from a lack of welcoming hospitality and uncomfortable dining facilities to limited food options and room cleanliness concerns. While it offers a range of activities, this experience didn't quite match the luxury standards I expected. I hope the hotel addresses these concerns for future guests

Was the only place we stayed in SL where we had decent hospitality and food you'd hope so with the extortionate pricing for food and drinks at the resort. Lots of activity for kids, pool area is good value. Separate shallow one for the kids with 2 slides. A water spray park area. Adult pool area. Games rooms. Multiple food options. Resort is pretty far away / isolated bit I didn't mind that as it was the purpose of our stay to just enjoy the resort. About 3.5 - 4 hours to airport and 1.5 - 2 hours from safaris.

It is a beautiful resort in which the staff does everything in their power to please you. Food was excellent with three resturants: buffet (excellent); club house (very good); and Asian (average). Breakfast has plenty of everything! Excursions: Communication problems--Yala Safari was nice but over priced and boatride to see birds was excellent! ATM did not work the entire three days. No sodas for a day or so, but did get sodas finally! Enjoyed the pool. No night entertainment and isolated location, but very classy resort! We enjoyed.

Even though I have booked a deluxe twin with Agoda, they provided a deluxe room. So, I had to explain it to staff and had request for an extra bed.
