No thrills and basic, but staff are attentive and it offers value for money

We had a wonderful one day all inclusive stay, tent was immaculate, clean spacious, even a living room area and warm water shower! Dinner was tasteful and staff and service on point. I would recommend this place to everyone doing a wilpatu Safari

I am not a fan of tents or glamping but when my partner asked to try out Mahoora I said ok and i do not regret it. The whole atmosphere and experience was wonderful. They had daily activities for people who stay there like bush walk to the lake, bonfire, night walk and games. I wished the booking told what time the bush walk was but since we missed it the Team told us we could join the night walk instead. The tent looked small from the outside but when we went in omg it was like a Harry Potter feel. It was spacious, clean and the mattress was comfortable. Toilet and shower area were separated though, the only separation of toilet to living area was a curtained divider. So if you are someone who is uncomfortable with other peoples toilet business i suggest headphones and all is well. The team was wonderful and accomadating. Just a note, you are not allowed to have any type of food or eat in your tent for fear of animals coming in and biting the tent, so just have to take note of this. Other than that it was a great starry starry night experience.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at Mahoora, the tent surpassed our expectations, our kids loved the marshmallows by the campfire before supper whilst we enjoyed a pre dinner drink. But the most special part of Mahoora is the people, everyone we met was kind and helpful. In particular we really enjoyed our guided safari with Heshan, the Naturalist. His English is excellent and his genuine enthusiasm for the animals and birds in Wilpattu National Park was clear. I was impressed he asked me at the beginning of our safari what we were hoping to see, whether we were interested in birds as well as animals etc and truly tailored our safari to our family, even bringing toffees for our kids! The jeeps at Mahoora are excellent, seating 6 people, so Heshan and our family of 5 could sit comfortably and hear all the information he told us, we could ask lots of questions etc. we passed several other safari companies where the guide was sat in the front cab with the driver, despite there being free seats up at the top). Bring sunglasses and possibly snoods/face masks as it can be dusty if travelling behind other jeeps.
