그랜드 타마린드 레이크

We arrived at the property around 6.30pm on a Friday and were promptly greeted and checked into our room. We had a very pleasant stay during our quick visit as we wanted to visit Yala National Park. The entrance we used to the park is very close from this property. The rooms were clean and gardens are beautiful with a great view of the lake. The food was great. Overall we had a great time and will definitely be going back.

It is our first time at Grand Tamarind Lake. Very convenient location and lots of nature surrounding the Hotel. All staff are very friendly and very accommodating with special requests. Special mention about the food as all the dishes were very very tasty and the menu changes every day. Very satisfied with the service in the restaurant as the staff give a lot of attention to the guests. All in all, it was one of our best choices in Kataragama. I will recommend all our overseas friends who visit Kataragama to pick this hotel next time they visit. There was one thing that I was not happy about. Perhaps no one has addressed it with the staff. i won't take it as a negative point to address it in my review as I know that it can be improved for better.

The staff, especially Shalini, were incredibly friendly and professional, accommodating early check-in, late check-out, and requests for a quiet room. They also helped us arrange a safari. The food was delicious, well-priced, and served in large portions. The courtyard, pool, and tree house were lovely, and the room was spacious with high ceilings. However, the property feels a bit worn, with scuffed cushions, stained pillowcases, towels, and rusty bathroom fixtures. A refresh of these details would make this a 5-star experience.

It’s like hotel staff has ignored us at the first entry as all the guests offered with a welcome drink and we are not. Requested a two double deluxe room and offered twin bed rooms. Also the used mattress is shorter than the bed size. Breakfast buffet was a very basic one.

Clean, nice, old hotel with big rooms. There is no nice view of a lake as it is fully covered with weeds. Reasonable variety of dishes for breakfast buffet..
