ootaryokan

The ryokan is in a very old house, and the very dear owners are staying there as well. Old Japanese style rooms, with tatami floors, and futons to sleep on. As the custom with staying at ryokans, if you follow the house rules & customs you'll be fine. The communal bathroom is on a separate wing, and you'll be expected to use it like a Japanese communal bathroom. We enjoyed our stay here, because it is a unique experience at an old ryokan run by very kind people in a small town.

My friend and I stayed there for a night. The owner does not speak English. The room was clean , big and quite comfortable. There is an “onsen” but it’s also the shared showers. So basically , when you want to use the onsen/shower , you close the door and you have the facility for 30-40 min. So if someone wants to shower when you are in the onsen , they need to wait until you are done. Interesting . Also the city is small , restaurants close before the announced time on google , be careful to eat early .
