Buffelsdrift is a great experience and there is a lot to see and do. However, the region can get seriously hot and that makes it a bit more challenging. Generally, everything is pretty good to great. However, the tents and can get very hot and the air-cons are unable to cool it down sufficiently during the day. Also, to make the air-con work, you have to close the tent flaps so it is dark inside with no view. You essentially have to pick, view and hot, or slightly cooler with no view. There is also virtually no shade at the pool in the afternoons. If you can deal with heat, then it is a pretty cool experience.

Fantastic stay in a beautiful location, watching hippos swim past while you sunbathe on the deck outside your tent is amazing! Food in restaurant in evening was great, breakfast, not quite at the same level but fine. All staff are really friendly and polite. We did the night safari and would definitely recommend.

We absolutely loved our two night stay in the lodge. We travelled with our two young children (aged 3 and 5) and stayed in a luxury family tent. From the minute we stepped into the lodge we knew we were staying somewhere very special. The view from our tent of the lake and nearby hills was beautiful, and we could lie in our beds watching the buck right outside our tent. We even spotted a giraffe about 50m away! Lying in bed at night listening to the birds, hippos and buck was just amazing. Every staff member we met was so friendly, helpful and welcoming to us and our kids. The food was superb (we ate in the restaurant both nights). We did the elephant experience and a night drive, and both were absolutely incredible!! We really can’t wait to return, next time for longer!! I’d 100% recommend this beautiful place to anyone!

Buffelsdrift is a lovely lodge to stay in many way. Great staff, great accommodation in an idyllic spot north of Oudtshoorn we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. The tents are fab, the Cheetah experience was special and everyone looked after us really well. On the downside, having stayed at other reserves in SA, with fairly limited game and little activity around the dam, by the time you add lunch, dinner, and animal activities to the cost of accommodation, value for money becomes a little stretched.

Good value for an intro safari game lodge. Really enjoyed the cheetah tracking and feeding the elephants. Lovely setting for dinner over the water.
