Friendly and helpful reception staff. In-room Onsen are great, the temperature and water pressure are perfect. You get what you pay for.

Place was okay. Very accessible, since it’s just beside the bus stop. The view of the river and mountains are just awesome. Here’s a but, though. The hotel is quite far from town. But since it’s just beside the bus stop, one can easily hop on the bus (which passes by every hour) to town, especially if you need to buy stuff or eat lunch., since a typical package only includes dinner and bfast. Staff are nice, but speaks little to no english. Hence, it gets difficult to haggle. Like my check out was 11am, but was not able to make it to the bus, so I asked if I could stay a bit at the common area until the next bus arrives, but the receptionist did not understand what I was asking for, so she just said no. 😅 i am not taking it against them though. All in all, i had a relaxing weekend there. Would try to yo back during autumn, i would think that the view would be even better.

Excellent stay! Our room comes with indoor and outdoor Onsen. Room was clean and both the dinner and breakfast were excellent! They have 2 private onsens (in which I went for both) and everything was clean and well maintained. It can be out of the area but you can just take the Nohi bus from takayama to shin-hotaka onsen guchi stop and the ryokan is just right opposite.

The staff and meal really superb! Love the ambiance but they can improve on the cleanness of bath/ onsen area
