“This hotel is definitely a 4 stay hotel with its great rooms, great accommodations/amenities and breathtaking views. I will definitely come back to this hotel if I ever come to Friday Harbor again. ”

“My girlfriends and I needed a place to stay the night before our sea kayaking tour because although we are adventurous, we are also practical. The discovery inn worked out just right. We didn’t have a car on the island so we dragged our roller bags from the ferry dock up the hill to the inn. It was only about a mile walk and there were sidewalks the whole way. The inn itself is more of a converted motel than a typical inn. I didn’t see an elevator but considering we’d just dragged our bags a mile, what was a few stairs? But keep that in mind. There were four of us ladies so we booked two rooms with 2 queen beds each. The rooms were nice and functional. Slightly dated, but comfortable and it didn’t feel worn or old. Just think brown neutral tones. But the need was comfy, the room was clean, and the lady at checking was delightful. The desk is not open 24 hours so if you lock your key in your room after hours and forget to take a picture of the paper with the after hours number on it, well that could be a bit of a pickle. And the keys are like house keys, not the new electronic cards. It’s conveniently located to the downtown area and we felt just fine walking to and from dinner. The room came with the like shampoo, body wash, lotion and a keurig with a variety of coffee pod choices. It was more expensive than I would have guessed for the level of room and lack of other amenities you’d expect for $280/night in the middle of September. But it served its purpose. ”

“The town is basically all in this area. We wanted to be close enough to town in case we just wanted to walk around. It is a bit dated with wood paneling on the wall and the room set up was small and interesting. But it was clean and staff friendly. It was all we needed for one day. Bed was a bit firm for me, but I am picky and love my own bed at home. It seems like most of the places to stay are a bit older around here, so I think in general don't expect a newly constructed hotel. The town iscute and old but it think that is part of its beauty. I wouldn't want to change that.”

“This is the exact stay that makes me say "that was worth the money". These days, just staying at a low-end motel can get pricey quick but the stay at Saturn's Return gives you exactly the value you are seeking. The panoramic room for sunrise/sunset is a must. Just be aware, those windows show out over the property so if you are expecting a lot of private time, this wouldn't be the best fit for that (the smaller rooms would be better). The complimentary homemade breakfast was out-of-this-world good and there were small, simple touches everywhere that made a thoughtful impression. From the local breads/salts at breakfast to the all-access tea bar with beautiful steeping pots and loose leaf to enjoy at your leisure, to the best smelling soaps and cozy towels, and even a Dyson hair dryer in the bathroom drawer (my long-haired friends know the struggle of a crappy hotel dryer). Every decision was made with care. And all the little nooks and crannies to relax throughout the property made it feel like I stepped into a Miyazaki film-you can't not love it. The little shop on site is the perfect place to grab a snack or something lovely to bring home like local honeys or balms (we selected two of the local frozen steaks and a cider vinegar). This spot is centrally located on the island and only 10 minutes from town - the perfect place to get away while still having access to everywhere you'd like to be. We simply could not recommend this place more. If I ever plan to bring a group to visit San Juan, I know where we are staying! P.S. Give Claude the cat a pet and a treat for us! ”
