“I was really looking forward to my stay, but unfortunately I had to undergo emergency dental surgery on the day of arrival. As check-in closed at 5pm, I wasn’t able to arrive in time. I appreciated the offer to wait until 5:15, but due to the circumstances — including being over an hour away and needing to collect medication — I couldn’t make it. I was disappointed that a more flexible arrangement or alternative solution wasn’t possible, and also that a refund couldn’t be offered given the situation. Greater flexibility in check-in, such as a lockbox system, would make things much easier for guests dealing with unexpected circumstances. I wish there was a way not to leave star ratings because I chose this hotel because it looked very nice.”
