“1. I arrived at the property. On 19 September 2026, I arrived at the property at approximately 6:20 PM after work to check in for my Agoda reservation. This was not a no-show. I was physically present at the property and attempted to check in. 2. The owner refused to let me check in and shouted at me. Upon my arrival, instead of assisting me with my booking, the owner refused to let me check in and began shouting at me. I was treated with extreme disrespect despite being a paying customer with a valid reservation made through Agoda. 3. I was then falsely accused of ignoring multiple calls. The owner claimed that he had made “multiple phone calls” to me and that I had ignored them. This is clearly DEFAMATION TOWARDS CUSTOMER and completely untrue. I immediately checked my phone call history. There were ZERO incoming calls from the owner/property and ZERO messages from him regarding my check-in. I have my call-history screenshot as evidence. I find it extremely unacceptable that an allegation that I deliberately ignored the property’s calls is being relied upon to justify denying my refund when my own call records directly contradict this claim. If the property maintains that multiple calls were made to me, I expect Agoda to require the property to provide evidence of those alleged calls, including the date, time and number used. I should not be financially penalised based solely on an unsupported allegation made by the property. 4. The owner blamed me for booking through Agoda. During the incident, the owner also blamed me for making the reservation through the Agoda application instead of contacting him directly. This is unreasonable and unacceptable. I made a reservation through Agoda’s platform, using the booking process provided to customers. I should not be blamed for using Agoda to book an Agoda-listed property. If the property requires guests to contact the owner separately before arrival, this should be clearly communicated to the customer through the appropriate booking and check-in information. 5. The property’s check-in arrangement was unclear and difficult to navigate. The owner stated that check-in was strictly between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. However, the property does not have a proper reception desk or clear signage to facilitate guest check-in. This made it unnecessarily difficult to determine where I was supposed to go or whom I was supposed to contact upon arrival. I arrived only approximately 20 minutes after the stated check-in period, yet instead of professionally assisting me with the situation, I was shouted at and refused service. 6. The owner eventually offered to let me check in — only after the confrontation. This point is extremely important. After shouting at me, refusing to let me check in and making the above accusations, the owner eventually offered to allow me to check in. I refused. I refused because, by that point, I had already been verbally confronted, disrespected and made to feel uncomfortable and unsafe. I am not obligated to stay at a property after being treated in this manner simply because the owner subsequently decided to offer me the room. A last-minute offer to check in does not erase the fact that I was initially refused and verbally abused, nor does it make the treatment I received acceptable.”
