“We chose Kārļamuiža for its location inside Gauja National Park, close to historic Cēsis, and that’s genuinely the best thing about it. The property itself didn’t live up to the “manor house / country hotel” marketing — the grounds were really just an orchard rather than landscaped manor gardens, and bedding was off-white with dull grey towels, giving the whole place a tired, cozy-village-house feel rather than the character advertised. Reception staff rotated during our stay, and while one was pleasant, the other was distinctly unfriendly — awkward, no eye contact, no greeting. For the price, we’d probably choose to stay in Cēsis town itself next time rather than book here again.”
