“We stayed here during a bikepacking trip around Iceland, arriving relatively early while it was snowing. The host was incredibly nice and friendly—after noticing we had cycled through a yellow weather alert in the snow, he kindly upgraded us to a room with a private bathroom! They also offered to let us store our bikes safely in the basement. We had dinner at the property and the food was great, especially the homemade bread. Highly recommend!”

“We stayed in a single bedroom cabin with our 2 teenage kids on the single beds in the bedroom and us on the sofa bed in the living room/kitchen. The inside of the cabin was looking somewhat warn with all the people that must have stayed there. The bedding was clean and comfortable and the kitchen had all the utensils we needed. Our cabin was the furthest from the WiFi router so the signal was week and kept dropping out, and reception on the television was limited. The location is great for exploring the East of Iceland, and we really enjoyed our stay there. ”

“We had a room with a bunk bed that was welded together - sturdy but hurts the bottom of my feet when I climbed up or down. WiFi was only good if you sit next to the router. No signal went past the door to our room and our room was the closest to it. Also weird that we had to check in and out at the hotel. A lot of people went straight to the hostel building. ”

“We did not actually stay at the barrels because we upgraded to the hostel option when we checked-in. At the time of our stay, it was only 6,500 ikr to upgrade to either the hotel or hostel with a shared bathroom and we appreciated the host for being so kind in accommodating us. We enjoyed our stay at the hostel, it was clean and exactly what we needed for the night.”
