Schrikkloof Private Nature Reserve, home of The Lions Foundation

A great place to go to if you just want to relax. There isn't much to do there. And driving out requires over 35 minutes off-road. The layout is beautiful, and the staff was very nice, the welcome drink was also a nice touch. They have a complimentary game drive, which is nice. And breakfast was great. The cleaning was not very nice though. There were cobwebs on the walls, and twice I had to kill spiders that were coming down from the thatch in our room. The room where the pool table is situated had cobwebs around the doors, windows and pool table. The cleaning is very superficial. A feather duster could also go a long way. With proper cleaning, the stay would have been more comfortable

The place is deep inside as you will travel a good 30 to 35 mins on gravel, before you get to the lodgings. The staff are nice and engaging, especially the guys. We welcomed with nice welcome drinks, and you get a complimentary game drive for each day, and you can get to watch the lion feedings at the lion sanctuary. They had a very nice breakfast spread, and the overall setup of the place is beautiful. The chalets are a bit outdated. The were was a big hole in the grass on the roof which let in a lot of sunshine. There were cobwebs all around the bedroom, on the walls, even dead flies were caught in them. Under the vanity and in corners, and outside shower and veranda was not clean. A bit of sweeping could have gone a long way. Twice I had to kill spiders that hung from the straw ceiling, which made me anxious about sleeping with my head uncovered. The cleaning that was done seemed very superficial, as only table tops and floors were cleaned. The same was around the restaurant and games room. Deck chairs could atleast be dusted. And the pool table, ceiling, window panes and doors can be cleaned and dusted a bit more. It is more obvious when the light hits that beautiful room. Overall, the staff is fantastic, the guy who welcomes guests, our driver at the game drive, the chef, and the guy who was our waiter

The entire team at Schrikkloof private nature reserve goes out of their way to ensure everyone enjoyed their stay. Thanks guys, you will see me there in the future.
