This is a great stop if you want to visit Semuc Champey. A really relaxed small stay by the lake. The hotel has a river, two pools, a rope swing and even a waterslide! You’re in for a good time. There aren’t many food options nearby so you’ll have to eat in the hostel. The food is okay and the rooms are mostly clean. They are dated and could use a new coat of paint but are generally good to stay in. The staff are very nice and accommodating! Personally, we recommend the Semuc tour by the hotel, especially if you’re limited for time.

Great stay near Semuc

Great experience
I can definitely recommend Hostel Wawis. We stayed there for two days and the staff was amazing. Erika, who runs the place, really saved us — we accidentally left our daughter’s insulin in the fridge after checking out, and she helped us recover it. The food is good, and you can see they really take great care of the place. Overall, a very welcoming and well-run hostel.

Acceptable
Not a good place to stay if you don't speak Spanish. Most of my requests they got wrong and to tip it off, they destroyed my laundry.
