Thought we would give this resort a go for our most recent visit to Punta Cana. Let me start by saying that we have travelled the Caribbean extensively and have been to Punta Cana many times so we come to these resorts with an open mind and are typically able to predict what we will get for our money. Pros: - Food has been quite good so far - Grounds are well kept and quite pretty - Location would be good other than the resort’s handling of the Sargassum (see below) - Rowell at the front desk and Jose at the beach bar are exceptional - Rooms are spacious - Good selection of restaurants when considering access to the 2 neighbouring properties - Nice feature about this Adults only side of the Princess properties is that you don’t need any reservations for the (4) ala crate restaurants on-site (need to make reservations if you are booking restaurants at the neighbouring sister properties) Cons: - The resort does a poor job of managing the Sargassum on the beach. Given the significance and high profile nature of this issue recently, I would expect them to prioritize this. They only clean the beach once per day at most and as I am writing this, it’s been over 24 hours since it was cleaned and as such, it’s quite smelly. Really unfortunate as other resorts just around the corner have done much more to manage the Sargassum on the beach. They need to do far better otherwise, guests like us will only choose resorts that manage this well. - While the rooms are spacious they are very dated and many of the furnishings are broken and damaged. The air conditioning is marginal at best. - Other than Rowell and Jose mentioned above, you are hard pressed to find a lot of smiling faces/overly courteous staff. Many seem unhappy. It’s certainly no 4 or 5 star (the latter is how they see themselves). 3 star at best. I would likely be less critical and forgiving if not for their management of the Sargassum on the beach (which is why we come here…the beach!).

The layout of the rooms are not good. They have a king size bed with a headboard that almost reaches the ceiling and this prevents the air conditioning from properly keeping the entire room cool thus we were sweating if we did to much moving around. Only 3 working outlets - in the bathroom & near the floor under the night stands that cannot be moved or adjusted. Hard to get service at times, thus had to go to the front desk to ensure our room gets cleaned and their ample towels. We didn't have a working phone & we got tired of asking after numerous requests. Food was pretty good. Staff was polite. Specialty dining was ok. Activities were good. Our biggest issue was with our room. So we just didn't spend much time in our room & relaxed the best way we could. Everyone has different tastes & different levels of hat can be tolerated. I personally will not be going back.

Was much better than I first anticipated. Beach is crazy nice . Grounds are beautiful. Smaller older resort that for the price I paid I was extremely happy. Food was very good too . Drinks are plentiful with little to no waiting in lines etc. I was in building 5 which is right next to the pool and 30 seconds away from the beach. If you expect 5 star and the fanciest of everything spend more and go somewhere else. I will def look at going here again when I/We come back to the Dominican. Staff were friendly

5 star this is not. It's barely a 3 star. I stayed for a week. The lobby was the most modern thing about the place. The room was dated, the air conditioning was super loud and working at a minimum. You could tell from looking around the room that they did the bare basics of cleaning. The phone didn't work properly. I discovered that when I tried to call reception to tell them my jacuzzi tub didn't work. I asked twice for someone to come and take a look at it and no one ever showed up, so I never got to use it. The staff was nice, but a couple of the bartenders thought they could ask for my number which was awkward. The food for the most part was not very good, with it either over or undercooked and/or dry. The best thing I ate was an omelette prepared fresh on a grill each morning. The entertainment was not much even though they were nice. They mostly did short little dances (15 seconds or so for whatever reason) and contests that weren't very interesting, or were too "raunchy" for me. At night they only did something from 9:30 pm to 11 pm, like a beach "party" or karaoke, but I didn't think it was anything great. The only thing the resort had no control over was the seaweed which was so bad it made the beach un-swimmable. I feel like I could go on, but you get the point I'm sure. I know hotels like to respond with "We're sorry your stay didn't meet your expectations but we hope we can make it up to you next time", but sorry, there won't be a next time in this case.
