It was good for short stay.

A lovely house with lots of personality and quirks. It was winter when I was there. The fire outside was great to hang out with other friends. Everyone has been there a while and very friendly to new people. The owner comes in every day and provides new guests with great trail hike ideas while he is vacuuming. Only thing I can think of is that there was no coffee pod machine (not that any hostel has ever had a coffee pod machine). It would be great to use my own coffee pods in hostels. It would save on me walking up the road for an expensive coffee while avoiding that granular vomit.

I think it's very rare for hostels to put in so much care into making sure every guest has a hospitable stay, but Ross does go out of his way to interact with you and make sure you are set with your Blue Mountains itinerary. The kitchen is small but homely and there's free flow coffee and tea, the free breakfast is simple but so good and the common areas are so intentionally set up to foster connection, which again, rare in this fast-paced world I feel. Just be aware that there are only 2 bathrooms within the entire house, which means you might need to wait abit to use the toilets, but otherwise, it's a pretty good deal, not just value-for-money but a respite for your soul.
