Just ran outa travel hours and needed a bed for the night . Right on state highway , never stayed before or even really noticed . Perfect renovation, spotlessly clean . Very small room , separate bathroom across hall , it was spotless also . Public bar top notch , the Thai salad was amazing as was the Reuben , thanks to the cook , really l was taken back by the food , excellent. The upper level l was on smelt of cigarettes when l returned to hit the sack , really disappointing but just maybe an entitled individual but it was a smell l haven't ensured in a hotel for years . It was a very hot Canterbury night , a small fan would have been nice , due to the heat l had my window open and had to endure a group talking below me till 0030 , bloody bore of a guy in their group just harping on as the do . I prob not in a need to stay again , but very likely to call by just for bar meal , top nosh , and a word of recognition just to repeat myself but this pub is spotless .
