A great homestay perfectly situated for all that Batukaras has to offer. Ardi and his family made us feel extremely welcome, sharing meals, helping us arrange tours and learn how to surf. The homestay has a shared kitchen and lounge as well as an outside area at the front with beanbags and hammocks. Free mineral water, tea & coffee is always available. There is also a fridge, washing machine and drying racks you can use. If you need anything just ask, Ardi is more than happy to help. The beach is a short walk away, you can rent a scooter and surf boards from Ardi and there are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants nearby with great food options. We ended up extending our stay by another 7 nights as we really enjoyed the slow pace in Batukaras and felt really comfortable at the homestay. The WIFI was a bit temperamental at times, it's definitely better at the front of the property, but most of the time it was fine and good enough for video calls and general browsing. The room is basic and not that big, the bathroom drain smelt a bit after showering and there was the occasional cockroach (plus lots of ants) but I think this is pretty common and just something you have to get used to!

If you are looking for a local experience with a very lovely family then this is your place. They are sweeter than a bag of Georgia peaches :))) Ardi, is the owner and is super helpful with anything & everything. He gives surf lessons, rents surfboards, rents scooters & can help you with any (Java) travel stuff. He even helped my buddy and I ship our surfboards to Nias.

Super chill & just what a surfer needs: close to the main point 🏄🏼‍♂️, comfortable bed, Wi-Fi & shared kitchen. The owner (Ardi) is very nice & very helpful. He got me a scooter & took me on an awesome surf trip. Thanks for everything 🤙🏽
