I've stayed at AmericInn Viroqua a few times, but only this time as a solo traveler. I booked thru a third-party site, and probably got a special rate, as the room I was given was ... interesting. It was not your typical queen hotel room, as it had a sink/kitchen counter type area next to the bed, and a toilet/small shower in the far end of the room. Honestly, it felt like they converted an old storage room into a rentable one. The toilet was, quite literally, rocking on the floor any time you sat on it (admittedly, I completely forgot to tell them this any time I saw staff, as I was usually there with a different question), and there was no clothes hanging space at all. Not a closet, wardrobe, nor even bar on the wall. It just felt like an afterthought of a room. It was fine, in the grand scheme of things, but if I were to get this room as a couple traveling, I would've asked to change. The staff is mostly quite pleasant and helpful, but it is a bit hit or miss, depending on who you get. Would I stay there again? Sure. Would I avoid room 228 in the future? Absolutely. The chocolate chip cookies were tasty, and I've had the breakfast there in the past, and it was good. I can't speak to it now, as I didn't have it. Honestly, I was exhausted from a week of packing boxes, preparing for a move, so I was a bit bleary-eyed and out of it. The front desk was very helpful in adding nights to my booking, as I was too tired to drive to Chicago airport. That said, I booked a La Quinta suite (also a Wyndham property) in Illinois as I was heading to the airport, and the room was far better for the same price. Again, I think it might've just been this particular room in AmericInn.

Disgusting
The room was filthy!! The bedding has visible bodily fluid stains, including blood and what appeared to be dried semen. We immediately reported the issue to the front desk. The clerk showed no concern or apology whatsoever. Given the unsanitary conditions and lack of professionalism, we checked out immediately. Completely unacceptable experience.
