Green Village

A great stay in all respects.

I've stayed at Green Village three times. I've always been very satisfied with the ambiance and facilities. During my recent visit, I really appreciated the kitchen and the shower. During past visits, the laundry facilities have been fantastic. If you want a quiet, rural place to stay within 20-30 minutes of Calgary, try Green Village.

This place has a good location since it is close to Calgary but, unfortunately, some of its shared areas have not been cleaned in a long time. The bathroom is very duty (see photos attached). Dirt has been there for a long time and building up. For instance, the shower has a curtain that has not been changed in a very long time. At the bottom of it, it is extremely dirty and fungous can be seen. There is old soap melted and stack in areas of the bathtub. You don’t feel to step inside the bathtub (I used sandals in case there is bacteria). The bottom on the bathtub has built up a dark layer. The bathtub doesn’t seem to have been cleaned in a long time to look such that. The kitchen is superficially cleaned. I found one of the coffee machines still with ground coffee and visible fungus was over the coffee holder. It must have been left dirty for a long time. The owner was surprised at check in when I showed it to the lady in charge. Moreover, there is a microwave that was not cleaned at the moment I checked in. There were significant traces of food on the inside. It is disgustingly dirty. Unfortunately, some gentleman seems to be living on the other units so they come over to use the kitchen and the laundry. This may explain why there isn’t much cleanliness around this section of the house (three rooms). We still have cold nights in this area and the situation worsen during my stay since the owners do not use the central heating system at night. It goes on at about seven in the morning when not needed. A night was very cold so I asked them to turn on the furnace to which they responded to use a manual heater left in the closet. It made the air very dried and had to be checked on throughout the night. Between midnight and two thirty, something is hitting something about the rooms. It can keep you awake. When I asked what it was, they argue that it might have been the wind or rain coming from the roof. Well, there is a room in the second floor right above the rooms. So, the noise is coming from inside the second floor. The tv remote did not work so I had to change channels and volume from behind the tv. I gave up tv those days I stayed there. The place could be a wonderful retreat for solo travellers or couples (no space for children) if it was professionally cleaned, at least once a month, maintained, and renovated to be fair for this type of business. Bathrooms, kitchen, and around this building need a deep cleaning everywhere. The facilities only offer a room if you want to hung out to do some work, study, or simply practice silence. The land around the house isn’t pleasant and the few seats outside the house are very dirty. It isn’t a place to stay during the day since it is surrounded by other homes. If you’re looking to get walks, it isn’t a good area for it since all Farkas are private so only the road is available for walks (not the ideal). I have attached photos of most areas to corroborate my review. I won’t be going back to this place since it simply appears below a two stars motel.

J'ai bien aimé mon séjour. Le proprio est gentil et attentionné. Rien ne manque et j'avais accès à une cuisine et à une laveuse et sécheuse. Je voyage en vélo, par conséquent j'étais un peu loin des restos, centres d'achat, etc. Pour quelqu'un qui est en voiture, ça ne posera pas de problèmes.
