We had a great one-night stay here. The location was important to us — right by Short Sands Beach, and we were able to park our car right in front of our room, which made unloading and settling in easy. Cavalier Hotel is next door, which could be a nice added bonus for future visitors but we were staying only one night so we did not make use of that. Since we were only staying one night, we weren't expecting breakfast or extra amenities, so that wasn't an issue for us. The room itself wasn't new, but it was clean and felt ok. Staff were friendly and welcoming during check-in. Although the motel is close to the road, we couldn't hear any traffic noise from our room. My criticism is around value for money — given how few amenities were included, we felt the price could have been more reasonable for what was offered. Overall, a solid, convenient choice for a short stay near the beach, though we'd like to see better pricing relative to what's included.

The location of sands by the sea was excellent to access the Hearst castle early in the morning. The views of the beach however are blocked even on upper floor by the sister property Cavalier which is where meals are served for a fee. Overall was not a bad place to stay in the *** range

This is our favorite place when bringing our doggies. Very pet friendly and close to the beach. Also great open area with games etc. Enjoyed beautiful sunsets too.

Wonderful location, quiet with comfy beds. Only negative about the room was the hard to flush toilet(difficult button), and the TV had horrible channels and was fuzzy for half of the them. It didn't matter much as we barely spent time in the room, so otherwise we had a fantastic stay and will be back before the end of the year.

Great location and the views are unbeatable. Roxy was a gem to check in with. The only downside was the hot tub not working/half working when it did and the last fire put doesn't always get lit. Otherwise, the stay was wonderful.
