The location can't be beat. The staff were all kind, friendly & accommodating. The facilities are the problem. The biggest issue was no heat the room was freezing and apparently this isn't a new problem as all their space heaters were loaned out so I was given a blanket and robe. It took 2 days to get a space heater then it was fine. The tub faucet could not be turned off all the way so a slow stream which made the bathroom super humid. The toilet ran constantly, I did let the front desk know but it couldn't be fixed, more of a concern for the waste of water and their bill, for me I just kept the door shut and it was fine. The tv does not have streaming so a few boring channels and lots of sports. Probably not a big deal for a short stay. The furnishings and decor screamed the 80's. Would I stay there again? I wouldn't rule it out for the price and location especially during Fiesta Week. The staff and going out of their way to do the best with what they had could not be any better.

Getting to the Hotel. Only i way to get the the Valet Parking. All other streets are blocked off. Even to Police Office who helped with directions was aware that all streets to the hotel are blocked due tot he fact the roads in front and around the Hotel were removed to open the Plaza.

The staff was very friendly and I would say it was worth it for the price, but not really because of surge pricing due to the Fourth of July weekend. My bathroom was a little bit questionable and the bathtub took forever to drain so I was up to my ankles and water whenever I shower showered, but other than that, I would recommend. Also, the lobby sometimes smelled like pee due to the homeless, but the staff can’t really control that.

I traveled to San Antonio for a conference and was looking for an affordable and walkable hotel location. The most recent reviews were a little off-putting and I was nervous about my choice, however, my experience was largely pleasant! Something to remember is that this hotel is historic! It is not going to be like the modern hotels most of us are used to. 1. The rooms are small - as a solo traveler, it was perfect for me, but adding another person and all of their luggage in the room...would be tight. 2. There are noises - my room had the constant sound of running water, while not an unpleasant noise, some could find it annoying. I slept with ear plugs. 3. The faucet on the shower did not turn off all the way and there are no outlets in the bathroom for a hair dryer (unless I couldn't find them). The shower head is low so if you're over 5'8" you'll have to duck. Everything was clean and tidy, there is a fridge in the room, but no microwave - that's on the 2nd floor for shared use.

We arrived around 2. Check-in was 4. We didn’t get our room until 6pm and that was only because we called a manager. The ac were not working well. Thankfully they gave us a fan and our room was about 78 during the day, others were not so lucky. Staff was great, we think they just didn’t have enough staff for the turn overs. Pool was really nice.
