It’s an old building, but there are things they could do to make your stay a little better. The bathroom door in our room took a lot of effort to close. And the water in the shower was either too cold or really really hot. There was no in between and for the price I paid for the room. I would like to be able to shut the bathroom door and have a comfortable temperature for the shower. The place itself is very pretty. It’s historic and our room was really nice. You just have to understand that it’s an old historic building but certain things like the door to the bathroom in the shower temperature or things that are easily fixed, but I don’t think that they’ve gotten into it or they’re OK with them being subpar.

The hotel manager was very responsive to our request to cleanup the room for the secondary night staying. She always reminded us her name and was ver polite.

The desk clerk was great. We were supposed to have a 3rd floor room with 2 queen beds but the elevator was out of order, so she gave us a 1st floor room with a king bed. It was more of a suite. I think her intentions were sincere. We knew it was going to be like an old B&B (built 1862), with vintage furniture, and that was fine, but the wooden floors weren't very clean and had food crumbs about. The rooms had high ceilings and the a/c could only be controlled down to 69 degrees so it was warm and not comfortable. No fans to help. It was very quiet, but that wasn't a good thing. It was so quiet that any walking or movement in other rooms or stairway wood was very loud. The worst part was the mattress. It was awful. We think it was the original from 1862. We literally rolled toward each other into a huge hole. Needless to say it we got maybe 4 hours of fitful sleep. All wall outlets were tied into the light switches so you couldn't plug anything in that needed power when you turned the lights off. We did like the old historical feel of the place but the lack of comfort took away from that. It just was not an enjoyable experience. If the mattress had been better, we could have tolerated the rest, but miserable sleep is a deal breaker for us.

I would give 11 out of 10 if I could. The hotel is beautiful. It is a classic building, but maintenance is kept up. The rooms are spacious, with wooden floors. Beds are comfortable. I would come back to Mobile for this hotel!

Loved this Inn! The room was spacious and very clean. It was like taking a step back in time. A beautiful old Inn. They are still making strides to maintain the uniqueness and charm. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this Inn. Close to the historic district downtown with nice restaurants and shops. Close to the USS Alabama Battleship Park which is a must do to see how the men lived on the hip during wartime in WW2.
