We enjoyed our one-night stopover at the Casa del Marques in Santillana Del Mar. Unusually, we actually opted for a lower room category in the hopes of scoring a standard room on their second floor with the timbered ceilings, old exposed brick walls, and pop-up skylight windows - which we did in fact receive! However, in summer, a room with a balcony overlooking the gardens would have been great. During our rainy visit in November, it wasn’t needed. We were able to open the window at night and hear the nearby cows lowing in the quietly falling rain. While the bedroom itself retained beautiful historic accents, the bathroom was fully modern and featured a gorgeous rough wood slab counter and stone vessel sink. In terms of drawbacks, there were three: the rooms did not offer conditioner nor tissues, which would have been nice; the bar was supposed to be open until 23:00 but when we returned at 22:15, having rushed through dinner to get back and enjoy a nightcap, it had already been shuttered; in the morning we could hear the hotel bar espresso machine as if it were right outside our door, and given that it was put to constant use for about 3 hours, the noise became grating. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay which we got at a great price, the unbeatable location and friendly staff.

Es un hotel encantador, nada más entrar te transporta siglos atrás pero con todo lujo de detalle. Habitaciones muy cómodas y un jardín interior precioso
