This place is an architect's dream wonderland where you can view over a dozen distinct award winning designs from Asian Architects from 2012. Spend at least 2 nights here to actually view the entire area and explore the premises. Chat with the local stewards and chauffeurs about the history of this development if you are the inquisitive type. Thank goodness that I booked through Agoda as their own Hyatt website was MORE expensive, and didn't even offer ANY shuttle service from the BADALING High Speed Rail station. Note that you will be prepared to be "fleeced" by the local taxi operators to come to this exquisite resort with restricted access (about RMB 100 / cab) especially if you have LOTS of heavy luggage. If you are only travelling with a backpack, you can walk downhill about 500m to the main road to catch a Didi cab at about 1 / 3 rd the cost. As far as food is concerned, this feels like a DETOX commune, whereby the food is quite bland and less savoury. Full of vegetable options, clear soups and minimal meat dishes apart from some slices of salami. I would say that even ALOFT in Malaysia has more delicious options, if you are a foodie. Despite being a 5 star premise, you would be disappointed with the lack of other high end menu items such as honeycomb honey and smoked salmon. Even the peanut butter was just served from a Skippy Jar. For physical activities, there is a large complex with pickleball, badminton court, a small indoor gym, golf driving net, pool table, foosball table, table-tennis table and even a curling court. Didn't get a chance to try out the archery area, which was a waste. To relax, there is an adjoining spa with a hot therapy pool with facial therapy from Innisfree. Weather was too cold for the outdoor pool (which was closed since September 2025), so that's one less activity for you and there is no additional discount for that omission. The room amenities were basic to say the least, with eco-friendly slippers (no plastic wrap). The en-suite toilet has a separate rainshower and bathtub with some quality toiletries. For those who are not physically fit, please obtain assistance to get your luggage LUGGED upstairs as there is NO lift in these standalone residences. On colder nights, the entire Aircon system is totally shut, which you will need to make a complaint to get it activated for proper heating and ventilation. The only disappointing aspect was the top notch Hyatt Marketing which sold the illusion of a MOUNTAIN View from the balcony. As can be seen from the attached photo from the Terrace house, my view was just a PATCH of earth on a hill side. A FAR cry fom the MOUNTAIN VIEW as falsely advertised.

Not a bad hotel, but you will definitely be disappointed if you book it expecting the standards typically associated with The Unbound Collection by Hyatt.

The hotel grounds are very large and you will require the hotel car to take you to and from the lobby. The vibes are amazing, mountain resort, especially in the cool air with the landscaped path with flowers. Room was large and we could see squirrels from our windows in the morning, running across the balcony. A lovely experience. Cons: no food from 2-530pm and no food from 9pm onwards (staff offer instant noodles to cook which is a nice touch but seems like the hotel can support them further - cup noodles, provide snacks for sale, etc?) We reached around 3 and did not have lunch yet. Went to the town and to Shuiguan but there is nothing available except for a couple of coffee places and Shuiguan has one shop selling ice cream. Come prepared with snacks / easy food and it will be okay. Badaling is 30 mins away by car, Shuiguan is 30mins on foot away. A pleasant experience but could use a snack shop in the hotel! Would be wonderful if hotel could do night hikes.

It was the worst stay during our trip. The staff were not very friendly and the facilities were outdated. The room was dirty and spotted dust and stains every where. The kid club was very crowded and toys reminded uncleaned and sanitized. People smokes everywhere and not very accommodating. We expected having an unrefined or untouched great wall experience while staying in this hotel but we ended up regretting for our stay. The price is definitely overpriced for this old and poor service.
